I've recently started looking around to purchase a fuzz pedal and I was looking for suggestions that would fit well with the sound of the Fender Twin Reverb Reissue. I'd like to find one under $150, but I'm open to other recommendations as well.

Thanks so much for the help

The best response I can give to that, is, go down to a music store and try out a few until you hear what you like. It's a good idea to bring your own gtr if possible, since every guitar and amp sounds different.
I mean, Eric Johnson uses a Fuzz Face, but do you think if you just buy a fuzz face that you will sound like EJ?
Not even close.

Are you anywhere close to a music store? If so, let me share my experience with you. I live in a large city where guitar centers are abundant. So in my quest to track down the perfect fuzz, I purchased and tried various fuzz pedals until I found one that not only sounded good with a trri, but that sounded good with MY trri. I tried the zvex fuzz factory, the electro harmonix big muff and finally settled on the Way Huge swollen pickle. This fuzz pedal is amazing and sounds oh so sweet with my trri. The electro harmonix big muff sounded good too but I am able to dial in way more sounds on the swollen pickle. The fuzz factory, well all I have to say is it is very loud, unique, and can deliver tones you've never heard before(and probably will never want to hear again  ), only problem was I didn't know how to incorporate those sounds into anything I play.
So if you're lucky enought to be near a store where you can purchase, try out, and return the pedal if it doesnt work out then by all means take advantage. That's the one thing the sales guy stressed to me, buy it and if you don't like it, bring it back and try another, and if you don't like that one, try another. And so on....
Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi from the UK. I have a Fender Twin 65RI, which is used alongside my Mesa Boogie Lone Star. As the Boogie needs no encouragement to break up, I bought a pedal to go with the Twin and decided on a Fulltone FD2. I'm very pleased - its been marvellous. Nice rich tasty distortion and loads of sounds available, lots of tweakability. The Twin seems to like this sort of pedal.

If your preference is fuzz, for say, metal, then this might not be agressive enough for you, but for blues, rock and just about everything else, its one of the best units I've heard. Its also stunning looking. Think of it as a much more versatile and tweakable Tube Screamer and you've got it.

Hope thats helpful.

There is no best of course. I really like my Dunlop JH-F1 paired with my DRRI and PRRI. Great fuzz at a really great price too.

Sure, it all depends what tone you're after, which is subjective. As I said, to me, the Fulltone is the best I've personally used. It seems to work well with 6L6 amps bur not all...doesn't seem to get on very well with the clean channel on my Mesas, for example! (they're probably jealous...)

I've been leaning towards the Fulltone Ultimate Octave, which can work as a fuzz pedal but also gives the option of the octave up/down. I live in Blacksburg VA so there's a few music stores around and I'll check out the sound I get from the different fuzz pedals they have. The stores specialize in boutique equipment and they've got plenty of options, although many are out of my price range. I'm looking for an Eddie Hazel/Band of Gypsies Hendrix tone, so I'm not looking for anything too heavy. Thanks for all the responses.

I also have the Fulltone Octafuzz, which is a similar pedal and uses alot of the same internals and can say that it provides a big fat fuzz, so the Ultimate should be at least in that camp. Only really use the thing in octave mode, the fuzz isn't anywhere near defined enough for my needs. If its the Hendrix BoG sound you're chasing, the Roger Mayer Vision Octave is worth considering, I used to own this but sold it on Ebay as I found it very rough. It is, however, very close to Jimi's original, but I'm sure you would have thought of this.

Good luck.
