Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. I am trying to decide between getting a new amp or a reverb pedal. I currently own a stock Champ 600, play a tex mex strat, and have both a Way Huge Aqua $@!& Delay and Fulltone Fulldrive 2 mosfet. I am really into that spacey fender clean with a tubescreamer on top sound. Will a nice reverb pedal and perhaps a speaker swap get me the rest of the way there, or will it be difficult unless I save up and shell out the clams for something like a princeton reverb ri? I'm on a budget so less is more.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I am only an at home player, so too much volume is a bad thing in my case.

Take your amp and your guitar down to your local music store that handles effects pedals and try one out. Most stores are happy to let you do it....if not, probably don't want to do business with them anyway

rrrrrr rrrrr rrrr rrr reverb sucks! There, I said it! Just kidding. I figured the Way Huge delay pedal would provide a little reverb for you. No?

I'd go with either a new amp or a 1x12 speaker cabinet. You won't get a lot out of that tiny speaker and cab. A good cabinet will resonate on its own. I just built a BYOC reverb pedal. I only use a tiny, tiny bit of reverb once in a while with my 74 SF Champ. My Egnater cabs are fine without it.

Reverb or not to reverb totally depends on what music you like.
Some like surf and spacey floyd just scream for it :)

But decent reverbs like the boss re-20 space echo are not cheap,

I'd agree with 63 and put the money towards a better speaker cab or slightly bigger amp.

If it were me, I would save for the real deal Blackface or Silverface Princeton or Deluxe Reverb. I have spent way too much and have had to take a loss for selling every pedal and amp that did not make the grade and did not hold its value.

maybe give one of these a go
http://www.bossus.com/go/fender/
Boss makes a couple of different Fender reverb/tremelo pedals that wont break the bank

Actually, I built my own because the Boss pedal got too weird when you turned it up and used any sort of aggressive attack. Sounds nice on lower levels though.

Just occured to me, you can have both with a great sounding Fender amp with reverb. No need to compromise.

+1

One could do a whole lot worse than one of Fender's blackface re-issues.

Four different flavors await to please the sonic palate......
