Hey there, I bought a Pro Junior off my guitar teacher a few weeks ago and have had a bunch of problems with it. It has an extremely annoying constant humming/hissing sound that sounds like white noise from the second I start it up, even if I'm not playing and the volume is all the way down. Also, at some notes I can hear the tube rattle (I think it's the spring hitting the tube) and at the sixth fret on the thick E string there is an absolutely terrible buzz. Anyone know how to solve these problems? I know that the tubes in the amp are new Mesa Boogie ones, and he replaced the speaker with a Celestion one. I'd really like to get this amp working, because I know it has the potential to sound wonderful.

Yes the Pro Jr is a great amp... What I would do is take back to the guitar teacher and have him or her deal with it... There a quite a few "suspects" in your post, Are the tubes new?, and are they in spec with the amp? It just sounds like this amp has been highly modified. Is your guitar set up correctly? (fret buzz on low E)...

Good Luck

Bill

Yeah, I was hoping to see if I could figure out any possible solutions before I see him next time. The tubes are new, yes. How can I tell if they're in spec with the amp? This is my first tube amp, I know virtually nothing about them. Also, I'm sure it's not the guitar because I've tried a total of three guitars and encounter the same problem each time. Thank you for replying!

Hah I'd probably end up majorly frying the amp if I attempted any of those mods, but thanks! :D
