Hello srffrk,
I've owned my Frontman 25r for about 8 years, it is my only
solid state amp. I use for it's super squeaky clean sound when thats
what I'm after. This amp is great in a home enviornment but I doubt
that it can keep up with a drumset. Good Luck.

Instead of a Hot Rod, take a look at a 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue, They can be had used and in great condition for less than a Hot Rod and are a lot more reliable and sound a lot better. You can use pedals for distortion or just crank up the amp. The difference between 22 watts and 40 is really no big deal.
The Hot Rod series gets real loud between 1-4 then that's about it, it really doesn't get much louder. I have a Hot Rod Deluxe and have used a borrowed Deluxe Reverb and there is no comparison.
