the title is pretty self explinatory.

I've been wanting a wah pedal since I started playing but want to get one that matches the amp I want.

I like the sounds on the "shaft" settings of the cylde wah.

What are everyone's thoughts?

Your entire bag of licks and riffs is based on a wah pedal......?

There is no wah to match an amp. Your guitar and technique have a bearing too. It's all subjective. You just try a bunch and get what you want. Wah effects get real old real fast. Some suck tone which could be an advantage if you want to darken your tone a little bit. Personally, I very rarely use them and use them more as a tone effect rather than a wah.

+1 @ 63supro - - There is no wah to match an amp.

I have a Teese that collects dust mostly these days, but a good wah.

Not at all, which is why I haven't gotten one yet.

I just think they sound cool.

I thought it might make a difference because not all overdrive pedals can be used on all amps, and then I read that the DRRI doesn't like delay pedals so I wanted to be sure that the wah would match but I guess I'll try to play around with a few, thanks for the suggestions everyone

Where are you getting this information from? The DRRI works fine with delay pedals and any overdrive pedal can be used with any amp. Might not sound great with every amp, but they will work. Where the effects are in the chain has a lot to do with it. You will seriously learn a lot of stuff here. Me and Arjay alone have over 80 years of gigging and equipment experience between us. There are many of us geezers here that love to answer questions sometimes in what may seem like a harsh reality type fashion but informative none the less.

If your up for making a mod to the more recent marketed vox and crybabys check out th BYOC Vintage Wah, it has the sounds you stated. The mod kit replaces the circuit of any crybaby wah, and the best part is it is very diverse and can be tweeked to suit your setup.

I added a Gain and Q pot for more tweeks as these seem to make some difference when I use it with different amps.

I'm in no way affiliated with BYOC, but they do have some usable stuff.

Get funky.

BYOC makes some great sounding kits. I see you also have an Overdrive 2. I use two of the Bluesbreaker clones. One modded for my Strat and one stock for Humbuckers. Great pedal. I also built their reverb pedal and a booster too. They're stuff is way beyond usable if you build it properly and not cause heat damage to the parts. The Confidence Boost is a great first kit to get your soldering skills together.

TTSC and Supro, that BYOC Wah kit has my interest, I have an old beat up Dunlop GCB-95 Wah out in my garage somewhere that I stopped using years ago. It could be a perfect candidate to gut it, possibly even refinish the shell, build that BYOC kit into it and give it a new life.

Thanks for posting.

Anyone try the new Vox reissued wah pedal? Supposedly a copy of the original CryBaby?

I've used my Dunlop Crybaby for years. Pretty good consistent tone. Built like a tank. No fancy bell-&-whistles, though.

Find an old Colorsound wah.

They are not easy to find, and they are not cheap.
They are also flimsy as hell.
I've tried 'em all, and the Colorsound is the coolest sounding wah there is IMO.
The thing does vowel sounds.

The new Cry Baby wahs are best left in the store,Vox would be a much better choice over a Cry Baby. The Fulltone Clyde wahs and the Teese RMC Picture Wahs are a bit pricey but are way ahead of any other pedals out there as they are the ones that come closest to the sound of the old 60s Vox and Cry Baby pedals.I have both old 60's Vox and Cry Baby wahs and the RMC and Clyde come closest to nailing that old "vomit" sound that the originals had.

cool, thanks everyone for the replies.

I'm going to hold off for now, as I think a wah pedal might be something I might get tired of if it's not "perfect."
