I have the opportunity to buy a '59 Bassman RI Chassis and I found a dovetailed pine cab built for a Hot Rod Deluxe. I see that the width and depth of both amps are the same (23-2/8" X 10-1/2") with the differences in dimensions being in height only, since one is a 4x10 and the other a 1x12. So my question is, should this chassis fit into this cab, and can I just connect directly to on 8 ohm 12" speaker, or is it not just this simple?

If that is all there is to it, then what speaker would you recommend? Any mods to the chassis? Originally, I was just looking for a small tube amp ala Champ or something like that, as long as it is a 6L6 amp. But I saw and opportunity to do something different and thought it was worth considering.

You will see a severe impedance mis-match with that combination. The 5F6-A OT's secondary is wound for a 2-ohm load.

Yes, I saw that one was 2 ohm and the other 8 ohm. Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but I thought that was somehow balanced out by the speaker load. So I guess there is no one-speaker cab configuration that will work with this chassis? Oh well, I guess I'll go back to looking at silverface Champs -- they're plentiful enough.
