I have a Blues Jr. amp that I've never really liked and rarely use. This weekend while messing with another amp I unplugged the 112 extension cab from the other amp and plugged it into the Jr. and wow that thing came alive, I couldn't believe the sound I'm getting out of it. The speaker is a closed back cab that I built with an Eminence Legend speaker. Can't believe the difference. I think this thing just became a keeper. :D

Hi S Bender,

I like my BJr, but I know what you mean about hooking it up to a closed back ext cab. I used mine with my new HRd extension cab with a 12 inch Celestion spkr, and I cranked both volumes, and it does sound sweet. :)

Blues junior cab is too small to a good speaker sound and almost all amp need a better speaker.

Yep. The standard Emminence 'Made for Fender' speaker is a turkey IMHO.

Are they fitted in the new version of the BJ does anybody know?

A bigger cabinet will always be the icing on the cake, but get rid of the stock driver for a 100% improvement with the existing cabinet.

In the interests of balance and fairplay, is there anybody here that likes the stock Driver? If so, and they need a spare, come and take mine away..

I believe they come with the new "Lightning Bolt" eminence speaker. Supposed to be a little better than the gold label.

I think it sounds decent. I have one in the BJr and one in the HRDlx. Wouldn't mind trying one in my new extension cab that came with a Celestion, I'd like to hear two gold labels at once on the HRDlx. If it's OK, I'll PM you and give you my shipping address, and you can send me a free speaker. :D

Lol. You'd be more than welcome to it Shimmi - subject to the above proviso!

I'm glad the stock speaker works for you at least.. :? :D

I actually like the stock speaker, tyvm. I had one of the "emerald" Blues Jr's, and had to get rid of it. Every time I played that amp, I hated it more and more, and it was all because of that Vintage 30. I finally found a blonde/oxblood Blues Jr with the standard Eminence driver, and now it sounds right.

Interesting.. I changed out the stock driver for a Vintage 30.

How we all differ!

Just my opinion, but I think that's one of the cool things about this little amp. A speaker change can really tune it more to your taste.
