your service to the country is very gratefully acknowledged.
but that's Mr. Cupcake, dude. don't think i'll impale myself, but if you like, you can always sit on the end of that broom stick and sweep the floor. i'd bet that would draw a bigger crowd.

comparing the size of the bassman crowd to the size of the SE crowd is bit like comparing one's red, hot and smelly with another's red, hot and smelly. i don't think it proves much. i suppose kids do it.

btw, i gave the Mustangs another try. the IV and V definitely have punch for the stage, very nice tones, easy setup once you get used to the settings. i'm still amazed by the low price, i'll be buying one of these just for the fun of it and experimenting a bit.

ciao,
johnny.

I suppose the fact that Buddy Guy, a Cyber user, also uses the Bassman doesn't prove anything either. Like, maybe the Cyber was not capable of all the tones he really wanted and the only way to get it was with a tube amp. Your logic is flawed Johnny but you either can't, or just plain refuse, to admit it, and that's sad.
Oh and, "I remember when", a whole bunch of new tube amps were introduced at NAMM.
Yesterday. lol

LMAO!!!

Forget it, Joe. Ten years from now -- when the cupcake (sorry......Mister Cupcake) is soiling his BVD's over the newest incarnation of "digital-for-dummies" modeling amps and today's techno-turkeys are being used as landfill fodder to fill up the unused caverns below Yucca Mountain -- we'll still be here, saying......

We told you so!

Yeah, I know. But I like filling in the holes as he digs them.

I was looking at the back line of amps in the latest "Crossroads" DVD. Despite the plethora of Fender amps (plus other great amps), there wasn't a Mustang amp in sight. I wonder why?

You guys are ate up! There is no substitute for a USAF B-52 carpet bombing. Although, the 56th TFW was fun in sunny Florida.

I feel a bit schizophrenic. I love my Princeton RI and VOX AC-30, both all tube, including the Rectifier. I rarely play anything but tube amps, But there are gigs I would never play without my Pod X3 live going straight into the PA. Recording with digital simulations is so easy, too.

Here's a recording of me playing the Pod 2.0 direct to disk.
http://www.myspace.com/claydgillespie Listen to The Last Word Is His, solo at 2:50. BTW that's a ~1980 Stratocaster

The late Colonel Francis Gabreski (one of my personal heroes) flew with the 56th in WWII and I served a year with the unit during the early '70s in Thailand when it was re-designated the 56th Special Operations Wing (PACAF). The wing has a long and distinguished history.

Hand salute, rjake.

logic? you call your argument logic?
pepole use tools as they need need them. i take shots at the tube amp myths - they deserve it. i would take shots at ss myths if they deserved it.

here the logic, and i hope it gets through: the Mustangs, the SE's, and the ss's have their own sounds and tones. either they work for you or they don't. I have personally found the SE's to work for me & find the new Mustangs pretty darn impressive, and incredible value for the money. i really dislike tube mythology because it is MISLEADING - it won't make your a better player regardless of how many tours of duty you've done.

on tubes, the helis pictured used to have tube radios and tube Doppler Nav Systems. I know because i used to fix'em. i spent many nights "tuning up" radios & shaking down the Dopplers because survival success depended on this stuff working - i wouldn't release equipment unless it was perfect (teardown & fix/rebuild, shake it down - vibrate & heat, re-qual again, re-inspect again, reinstall, recheck again with engine on). Tube equipment maintenace was ghastly. when ss came around and as it evolved, the equipment got more reliable, worked better, and became nearly zero maintenance. i do have operationally learned prejudices. reading the tube amp posts, i see the same-old, same-old problems.

back to the mustangs & FUSE, any of you try the FUSE software? what are your impressions?

ciao,
johnny.

Mythology?? Come on Johnny, you can't be serious?? I'm not sure where you live and if you go out to see bands performing live... so all these musicians still playing tube amps today were mislead?

So if I start playing SS amps or these Mustangs it'll make me a better player? Cool! Better get in the car and start driving to GC...

Why are you still here (other than the fact that you like to hear yourself "talk")? Do you really think that your arguments will change people's minds or do you just like the attention? Why don't you spend your time here

with all the other modeling fan boys and leave us to the warm glow of our beloved tubes.
