I can barely remember the good old days of panties on (and sometimes off) a 18 year old.

Very fond memories.

I love where this thread is headed

If tubes are like underwear then I'm here to say that I'm proud to be a teenager and will keep changing underwear! Can you imagine wearing the same underwear for days and days and days...

I don't want no reliable SS underwear!

Maybe Fender could rename this section "the tube only section 85 to current", and start a new section for "everything else 85 to current". (or vice-versa)

That way the tube folks could have a place all to themselves for all their "stuff", and everyone else could be free to just discuss the new modern amps that Fender produces.

That way everybody wins.

I still think the above should be considered

Does that sound like something that could work?

I think the modeling amps are great for neophytes who can't seem to master the lost art of simply spinning an amp's knobs to find a pleasing tone. And the transistorized platforms don't require any effort at all to maintain -- when they fail their owners dutifully hookshot them into a convenient dumpster and buy another POS......which leaves more time for their devotees to spend on Guitar Hero and Facebook.

I find it ironic that the lion's share of the pre-sets on most modeling amps are vain attempts to emulate the truly great amps from the past rather than developing altogether-new tones that one day in the future might be termed "classic". By any technological measurement I call that "epic fail".

Which is why there are separate forums on this very site for modelers and amplifiers that are nothing but amplifiers.

Yeah but it's cool to have all these old crappy tube amps in one easy to use amp, and the emulation is perfect, you couldn't tell the difference! :D All for the price of a pair of NOS tubes!

Buy more SS amps, buy more SS amps!!!

Oh, well then ......

I'll classify that along with such statements as "The check is in the mail" and "I read it on the Internet so it must be true". 8)
