Is this normal? Will it go away eventually?
What causes this?
The whole house smells bad after I play a while.
Now my playing literally does stink :)

If your amp is new, it could be the resin polyimid of transformers, PCB and protection spray that can smell a little bit. However, if there is smoke or you think that not normal, contact your dealer. May be there is a component that gonna die.
:)

What kind of smell? Is it a burnt smell, indicating that something is too hot? I know that the BJrs output tubes run very hot, the smell could be from the covering on back panel getting hot, or the label on the tubes heating up. If it is a chemical smell, it could be what Tissan said, from the glue and should fade soon.

If the amp is new and there's a bit of heat being generated inside the cabinet, I wonder whether it might be the glue used to apply the Tweed covering getting warm and releasing some smelly compounds because it's still factory fresh.

Snowy.

I love the smell that my BJ NOS puts off when it gets warm. I would not describe mine as smelling up the whole house though. You have to be close to smell it. I think it's the tweed. It's the same smell as when I pulled it fresh from the box. Everytime it heats up, it smells brand new!
:D

Just an update. I guess it finally burned off whatever it was, because now all is well. I can now play without needing to open the windows :)
