Hello!

Is anyone actually using this amplifier? It seems there is no support or user community for it at all. Am I looking in the wrong places?

Thanks,
MODD

There's one devotee here named "Johnny" something-or-other but he hasn't posted on the forum in quite some time.

There used to be a running topic called Cyber Twin where everyone was posting their questions. With the new forum, has everything disappeared? I went to Musicians Friend and they have limited inventory. Sweetwater has no inventory.

Brad, has the Cyber Twin been discontinued?

The Cyber Twin SE model is still listed among Fender's amp line.

I was wondering if anyone can vouch for the sound-alike-ness of the two "Duel Ratifier" (???) presets, vs. their originating models?

The Cybertwin amps are great ! really they are.

For most settings they are a very cool bag of tricks for sure, however don't expect That "Alive" Tube sound from an all tube circuit.

I think they are hands down a million times better sounding than the competitions best offerings.

A/B it next to my DRRI or Bassman and you'll see that the all tube signal path has more sparkle and responce to playing style.

Again for most live performances they are great ! I have owned three of the originals and a head/half stack too.

blues bondsman, thanks for the enthusiastic reply. I bought a silverface (pre-Master) Twin new in '72 so I have my ultra-clean "all-tube" reference. My quest is for a gig-ready, portable (yet also part-studio) two-voiced combo. I need both Fender Tube Clean and M/B "crunchy" (my term) to be able to deliver the goods. It's the emulation of the latter on the CyberTwin that I was asking about. Were you saying you have a DualRec that you A/B to it and hear only differences that are positive?

one answer about the lack of posts about the Cyber-Twin SE is that the tube purest on the forum could not stand, or tolerate, ANYTHING positive being posted about the amps. So any discussion became very heated with the result being those of us that use them said "I don't need this" and left the boards to the tube people. And that has resulted in endless posts about tubes, tube "purity" and tube problems.

The Cyber-Twin SE on the other hand is a "relatively" trouble free amp. At least mine has been. And sounds great to me and my ears. So the majority of posts about it are related to different amp presets, using some software that Johnny made for it and just using the amp. (I also have a DRRI and TRRI - BTW  )

I see that Fender has gotten "smarter" with the Mustang and G-dec lines of amps and given them separate forums. That should eliminate a lot of problems - if the "tube people" will just leave them alone. That also puts the answers to questions about those amps in a place that's easier to locate.

But - as always - how anything sounds is a matter of preference, and thus up to each individual. So the same answer comes up again - try it out for yourself, and see how YOU like it. :D
The Cyber-Twin SE has MANY sounds built into it - so be prepared to spend some time with it. :D

(putting asbestos anti-flame suit on in preparation for the "invasion of the tube people")

"Sounds great to a DRRI/TRRI owner" with respect to the emulation of a DRRI, is the sort of opinion I was seeking. (Or its negation.) I expect to have to play-test it, and to spend tuning-in time should I pull the switch on it.

Thanks a lot for the insights!

Just a guess, Old fender is Johnny Stacatto resurected.

Solid state can no more replace Tube circuits as tone monsters any more than pigs can't replace cars as transportation for humans.

However I still really enjoy the Cybertwin series of amps.

The real problem was when mr. johnny came here making lofty claims and anounced the end of tubes for guitar amps, he stepped in a huge pile of shaving cream LOL !!!

WRONG !!!

And you owe me an apology for implying I am someone I'm not.

Care to comment on the circuits used in sound studios? Or, how about the circuits used in sound editing? Or, maybe the circuits used to reproduce music?

Yep. The same here. But I like a lot of different guitar amps too. My DRRI and TRRI are two of those. I also like an old British guitar amp sound, that rhymes with "box", and one that has a nice "citrus" 'flavor' too. (I don't think either are made in the UK anymore). But, I would have to say an all time favorite is an old Fender twin. They make a nice reproduction of it now called The ’57 Twin-Amp. But, the Cyber-Twin SE does a good job at making really excellent sounds similar to the twin too.

My feelings - and, with all due respect - that only is a problem to a closed mind.
We all have our opinions, and feelings. This "Johnny Stacatto" is entitled to his opinions - however right, or wrong, they may seem to you. I don't recall reading the announcement you refer to. But, that doesn't matter. I have not read everything posted. I just look in from time to time to see what's going on - and have seen some of the mindless "wars" that have happened. (not interested in any of those - so don't bother pointing any out.)

Like I said above - some of us have seen this "stuff ", and have just said "I don't need this". (for the 2nd time now!)

(I could be wrong - but doesn't Fender make more than just "tube" amps? And, isn't this a Fender forum - for all Fender items?)

Oh, almost forgot to add "LOL". That makes everything ok, right?

Yo, Johnny here (that's Johnny Stecchino, or simply johnny). First, a Happy New Year to all.

I have several SE's, CT's, and one JC-120. I sold my tube gear a while ago and never looked back.

Yes, I do get the tones from my SE's, IMHO, much more to my liking than any of my prior tube gear, and much more reliable (especially when I ship them around the planet). Cyber Commander helps me a lot at getting at the fine tone control, creating Player's Lounges, and programming up the Midi Map for the Foot Controller. Here's the way I work: I generally setup and search for a sound. I use a lot of "digital" gear, computers, etc, do a lot of digital recordings and compare, compare, and compare. Eventually I get to hear the tone in my head, usually the tone is better than the one in my head (compare, compare, and compare...) and I'll build a library of presets. This library of presets is one Player's Lounge. Right now I have about 200 Player's Lounges, each with a specific musical theme in mind. The sequences in each Players Lounge follows a certain repertoire of musical pieces I'll play. This my system, it works for me, it let's me take maximum advantage of what the Cyber Twins have to offer (I also use more than SE simultaneously). I am very happy with this setup.

Yes, I have had a lot of fun rattling the tube purists. Still can't believe they got that personal about it, but I gotta admit, I did egg'em on. I might do it again for fun (of course)... stay tuned.

Yes, I disappeared for a while because of a lot of travel all over this planet. I do have a day job... but I'm back, at least for while.

Yes, I am also the guy who brought the industrial-grade "Cyber Commander" software into the world. Yes, it's "industrial-grade", there have been NO reported bugs in this software for the two and half years it's been available to everyone. Furthermore, this software is complete, it uses everything the Cyber Twins have to offer. In case anyone is wondering, that's why there haven't been any "upgrades", there's nothing to upgrade. In case you are curious, come see us at: http://www.generalcybersystems.com/GCSWebSite/index.php to learn more.

Yes, we support Cyber Commander software. When it makes sense, we answer questions about the CT or SE - we are not experts, we are self-taught, we do not have CT or SE design knowledge, only Fender has that, but we'll help if we can. On supporting the CT or SE, we have done a deep dive into the amp and have shared most of what we know about the amp, we don't "officially" support the CT's or SE's, and like you as independents (of Fender Inc), we give what we can.

Ciao,
Johnny.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Good to know there are others out there that use this fine amp. I will post questions to this forum and hope the purist don't flame me.

Hello Johnny, welcome back! Nice to see you post. I had looked at your web site prior to your post and was giving serious consideration to purchasing your editor. I now feel complelled to do it. Do you share your settings, or does anyone else for that matter?

Happy New Year,

MODD

I put up some basic settings that should get you going on my website's trading post. the other stuff is my own custom stuff which i haven't shared, generally aimed at using two SE's simultaneously - i setup two SE's a little differently & add a touch of delay for a 3-D sound. Crazy.

ciao,
johnny.
