My 08 Pro tube twin is spitting and losing volume on both channels. It only does this occasionally. I replaced the 6L6 tubes about 3 months ago. Is this related to the power tubes or could it be another problem? Its still under warranty but my back hates moving this monster. Could it be a loose ground somewhere?

Hi tdanb2003,

It could be a preamp tube that is common to both channels acting up, like V1, V3, or V4. Try replacing them one at a time with a known good tube to see if that is the problem. It could also be bad solder joints, or some other issue, but if it's under warranty, and the preamp tubes aren't the problem, take it back to where you bought it for repair.

Thanks Shimmilou I checked the preamp tubes thinking one might be microphonic. I found one that felt loose in the spring cover. I pushed it in and so far so good. I did talk to my dealer and if it does it again they said bring it in.
