i've been trying to get information on these 12ax7 tubes. there's the original Svetlana, which is now SED winged C, and the new Svetlana owned by New Sensor. i've googled it to death, and i still get mixed reviews (which i suppose is to be expected...), so maybe i'm wasting my time by asking here...but here goes anyway.

Does anyone have experience using either of these tubes? can you describe how they compare?

What's funny is i think i'm starting to see that SED =C= is considered "better" than New Sensor's Svetlana brand, however The Tube Store considers the opposite, saying that New Sensor's version is better. Of course, maybe that's what they want you to think. ARGH
unfortunately i havent really seen what everyone means by "better"

Winged =C= are good valves, well known for good ageing aptitude but expensive (plan in St Peterburg), let you hears make the difference. 8)

New sensor owned mullard, ElectroHarmonics, Sovteck ...

I have some of the new sensor 12ax7's and compared to a few other brands they sound warmer. Not as bright as any of my other 12ax7's. Best advice would be to try and see if you like'em. For example, I like the way they sound on my twin reverb and pignose cause those are pretty bright amps, but not on my champion 600 cause that is an already pretty warm sounding amp and they only make it sound warmer. Hope this helps.
