I have had this amp for a little over a year and it has worked fine up until a few months ago. I was playing it with the volume cranked on the master channel like usual, turned it off, and when I came back to it the next day, the clean channel sounds terrible (like a thin clipping distortion) and the master channel is dead silent. No hiss or hum or anything. I live in the middle of nowhere right now so I can't take it anywhere, but maybe someone out there has experienced that same thing? Should I send it in for repair?

Thanks.

You bought it "new" a little over a year ago??? If so, this is not your problem, it's Fenders, those things have a 5 year warranty. About the only thing you can do is take it to be fixed (to an authorized Fender service center). It's probably just a resistor or something that has konked out, probably because of heat. If the place where you bought it can fix it and their authorized to do Fender warranty repairs being that your store warranty is most likely out,, then they should give you a loner to use while yours is being fixed.

I've also got a DeVille 410 that's a little over a year old. When I bought it I couldn't even use it without taking it back. I brung it home and plugged it in and "NOTHING", couldn't get a sound out of it, not even a hum. I took it back and being the good store that they are, they took the back off and did a cold solder on one of the resistors, after that it was good as new and I haven't had any problems out of it. I of course got a loner for two days (it was the same amp but suprisingly it didn't sound as good as mine after I got it back).

The guy said that their not soldering this stuff good enough and sometimes they miss a solder completely. Seems like he new exactly what to look for when he opened it up. He also said that he didn't know how this amp passed inspection before it left the factory, because most likely it wouldn't have worked then either.

Just thought I would share my DeVille story.

Thank you for the reply! That sucks about your amp too. But today I really inspected the back of my amp to find that one of the power tubes wasn't lighting up. I went down to the music store and bought a new tube, put it in, and turned it on. They told me to warm it up for an hour before playing and the replacement tube hasn't lit up yet. So I am thinking that it must be something about the connection between the tube and the circuit board. Totally freakin' lame.
