lelahel, look for a bad connection on the negative wire (shield connection) in the tank. Some reverb tanks have these push on connectors inside that are supposed to pierce the insulation on the wires when pushed in, and make the connection to the wire (I don't know which tank that you have). If your tank has these connectors, check there first, just pop the top off of the connector and check/redo the connections. Otherwise, you are looking for a broken connection somewhere. There isn't much to the connections inside, just open the tank and inspect. :)

I would suggest taking out the RCA and look inside the Input jack. Make sure that it is making contact it could have somehow got bent and is not making full contact with the cable. There really isn't much to a Reverb tank should be a very easy fix.

It might be the insulation between the blue wire connection (positive) and the metal tank housing is broken, allowing the solder connection to touch the housing. Can you put a thin piece of cardboard between the housing and insulation, behind the blue wire connection, to make sure that it isn't touching the metal housing?

i took the stage 112 reverb tank and with a multimeter a compared the connections in output entry.
stage 112 : both wires are connected to the metal housing
twin reverb : in the buzz region (blue wire) there is no contact with the metal housing
the reference of the reverb tank is : 4AB3C1B
the 5th digit C means Input Insulated / Output Grounded so i think that the blue wire must be connected to the metal housing, no?

so what can i do?

I think that the "Input Insulated / Output Grounded" refers to the negative side of the jack only, not the positive side. The blue wire is positive, and should not touch the case. The negative side of the input jack should be insulated from the case (no continuity from negative to case), while the negative side of the output jack should be connected to the case. For the input/output wires that go to the amp, the input shield is not connected to ground (chassis), while the output shield is connected to ground, in the circuit of the amp. Maybe the jack insulation is broken/cracked? With the jack riveted into the tank, it mat be difficult to repair properly, maybe replace the tank?

yes as you said the jack insulation maybe broken and it will be very difficult to change it. the best is to change the tank, but there is another problem because in our coutry we can't pay by internet. i'll ask if they'll accept well hidden cash!
thanks for all
