I have a Princeton RI and I'm considering replacing the Jensen C10R with a Celestion Alnico 10 or a G10 Greenback. Anyone out there tried Celestions with a Princeton or other Fender 10" amp (Vibrosonic or Super Reverb)? What's your opinion?

I've heard a number of PR's and PRRI's with different speakers installed, including the Celestion Vintage 10.

Trust me......anything would be an improvement over the OEM import Jensen!

You might also consider upgrading to a 12-inch speaker. Princetons sound righteous with a Celestion V30.

I didn't think of using a 12-inch. That's worth considering.

Larry Rodgers of "Rodger's Amplification" sells a ready-made 12" baffle for the PR on Ebay. It's a virtural turn-key conversion and well worth the $$$.

From my 20+ year experience and love affair with Celestions I've found that Celestions vastly improve the sound from anything they replace.

From my 44 years of experience I vehemently disagree.

I love Webers, but just my personal preference.
oh yeah,I'm an old dude like Arjay, and to me they sound very much like original Jensens we were using back in the '60s.

I like Celstions, and heve yet to find one of their speakers that didn't agree with my ears. My favorite speakers however are Carvin. They only have a couple of different models but the sound is phenomenal. I do think that either of the speakers you mentioned will be an upgrade, but I agree with arjay about going with the 12" speaker. Would be a fairly easy conversion and would most defintely be worth it. hth

Carvin? Do they build their own speakers or are they manufactured by another company?
