Just got my hands on a limited edition Blues Jr. with vintage speaker, forest green cabinet. Anyone have any experience with the limited editions?

There are several Limited Edition Blues Jrs. with different speaker configurations, some have specially voiced Eminence speakers, some have Celestion Vintage 30s and I believe some have Jensens.Mine is a Blonde Limited Edition with the standard Eminence speaker however from feedback I've gotten the Celestion Vintage 30 would be a great upgrade and I must say that I'm inclined to go along with that as I put a Vintage 30 in an old Traynor Guitar Mate and it made a tremendous difference. You say that you have a vintage speaker,if it is in fact a Vintage 30 you have about the best speaker option of the lot.

The V30 is a great speaker. (ceramic). It's loud. The Jensen P12Q is good as well (AlNiCo) but for all around great tone I like the Celestian AlNiCo Gold. Makes any amp sound better.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Sweet. It does indeed have a Celsetion Vintage 30 speaker. It was going for less than the standard Blues Jr.... probably because it is dark green. I figured I got a good deal.

The limited editions usually are just a speaker swap and cosmetics. The circuitry remains the same.

I have a NOS Tweed Limited Editon w/Jensen speaker and in my opinion it sounds much better than the standard BJ. I had a standard BJ a couple years ago and tried several different speakers, Green Back, V30, etc. and just wasn't happy with the sound.

I just purchased a new Super Sonic 22 so the BJ is not getting much action at this time.

Fill me in on the Supersonic 22...I am interested in what you think.

The Super Sonic 22 is an awesome amp! I play out in a lot of small to medium sized churches and was using a 40 watt hot rod deluxe or the 15 watt blues jr. In most cases the HRDx was to much amp and I couldn't turn it up enough to get the tubes cooking and the blues jr. seemed to get lost in the mix. I gigged last weekend with the SS 22 and it was perfect. It sounds great at low to medium volume and will crank if need be. I set it on the sweet spot and mic it through the PA. This will fill the need for 90% of my gigs. If I play outdoors I will use the HRDx w/ a HRDx 112 extension cab or my Marshall DSL 50 through a 2x12.

The clean channel is great with that classic Fender clean tone and the burn channel has a great overdrive to medium distortion unlike any other Fender amp that I have played. If I want to cut through the mix for leads on the burn channel I will kick on my OCD or BB Preamp. I also use a Timmy pedal on the clean channel for mild break up.

Fender hit a home run with this amp. It is very versitale and covers most of the bases. It will fall short in the metal category but I don't play that style so it covers all my needs.
