After hours upon hours of tweaking I am just not satisfied with my Fender 2x12 HRD. Dont get me wrong I have got a pretty good sound out of it but have come to the realization that the mids are just way to harsh and the highs are very brittle. I have found that I am continuously chasing the Twin Reverb smooth sound.

I play for the most part a 62 ri strat with a JB jr in the bridge ( im about to go back to stock bridge pick up) and a G&L asat special. But I play alternative rock music somewhere along the lines of Kings of leon, The Killers, Bush, Silversun Pickups, Tonic. Is the Twin Reverb the right Amp for me ?

Here is my current set up

2x12 Hrd (clean i really never use the drive channel its just too muddy for me)

Pedals:
1: seymour duncan twin tube clasic (I love this pedal but the power supply sucks)
2: Maxon Sonic Distortion (kind of like a modded TS9)
3: Boss ds-1 (unmodded)
4: DOD supra distortion (fuzz)

Those are my current drive pedals. What do you guys think is the Twin Reverb what I am looking for ?

Thanks, David

BTW its impossible to set up the Deville to be able to play both guitars with out a complete setting change in between songs :[

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the black face Fenders.

I like the Deluxe Reverb RI for the tone & portability. It's loud enough to gig with in clubs & it's much lighter than the Twin Reverb.

Twin, Super, & Deluxe Reverb, are all likely to do well with pedals for the most part.

However, if you don't mind the weight or wattage of the Twin, by all means go for it. They sweet amps.

I think the Twin Reverb will deliver for you.

But I'd hook-shot that S-D Twin Tube Classic into a dumpster in favor of a Fulltone OCD.

Be sure to get an 18VDC wall wart for it -- the pedal will sound much phatter than with a piddlyazz nine volts or a battery.

HTH

Thanks guys I have really been wanting to jam with an OCD pedal just haven't had the opportunity. I do really like my Twin Tube classic but its is designed stupidly and have been looking for a way to replace it with something a little more practical.

Ive really been looking at the T-Rex Mudhoney and the T-Rex Alberta

Sadly, that twin sound is impossible to get without a twin im afraid.

So all that noise and weight, is the sacrifice for that incredible tone

Get a Twin Reverb and 'womanizer' pedal from Damage Control. 8)

It's been replaced/discontinued, but they're out there and dual tube!

Hmm, any overdrive or distortion pedal i tried with my 65 twin reverb always sounded thin. How was the womanizer through your twin?

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it. I will admit that the Womanizer does look like a very interesting pedal but Im still leaning towards a Mudhoney.

So here is the latest on the TRRI. I got one !!!! but sadly it is not doing very well my wife bought it for me from guitar center and from what I can tell with out taking it apart and voiding anything is the following.

1. its not getting full power I turn it up to ten and its not even as loud as my old 80's pro studio. This makes me thing the power tubes are bad which is no biggie.

2. It has a really loud buzz like it is not grounding properly the buzz is almost louder then the amp. It also has a harmonic hum which makes me think the its bias wrong and the preamp tubes are bad.

3. the pots are horrible especially the eq pots the bass goes from about 2-8 in one slight turn.

So after all this I took it back and tried another one they had there and it also had a very loud buzz.

They have shipped me another one from a different store cause those were the only 2 they had but if this one is bad as well I think I may look at something else.

Is this common ? or am I just having some very bad luck cause from everything I read TRRI are one of the most reliable amps fender makes. I may try a Super Reverb if this next amp is crap. I really hope not because the TRRI is my dream amp !!!!

That's great,I thought from your previous post something was really wrong...if you turned a Twin up to 10 I should have heard it here in Tennessee. :D
