Hello, I just bought a Fender Blues jr. in the US but I need to get it to my country. I'm taking a plane, and I guess they won't let me take it as carry on bagagge, and of course, sending it as regular bagagge is not an option, because it would get all smashed up.

I don't know if maybe sending it through a carrier or something is the best option

Thanks!

I'd ship it Fedx or UPS and insure it for full value. The airline will more than likely destroy it then deny it.

+1000!

As well, you will probably be jumping though bureaucratic hoops with customs declarations and import/excise duties to be paid so be prepared for that too.

Best of luck, HTH

My last experience inSeptember, I bougt a guitare in Detroit and I took the airplane without any issue about the big flight case. May be,you can ask to the airline company if you can take it as a hand luggage because the BJr is not so big and can be place in a hand luggage area on top of you. But make sure otherwise in the airplane belly ...
Agreeing with previous fellows, easier by UPS/Fedex ...

I think a guitar and amp would be viewed quite differently by the TSA. A guitar can be easily x-rayed and be shown to consist of a few passive electronic components, some random bits of metal, and a big block of wood. An amp on the other hand consists of active electronic circuitry and a bunch of tubes or solid state devices that could do almost anything. You would probably be asked to prove that it is simply a guitar amplifier and not the timer/detonator of a miniature nuclear device.

Best bet is an international freight carrier as has already been mentioned.

Depending upon the country you would ship it to, FedEx/UPS fees might amount to more than the amp cost you already.

Reasonably packed, you could have it included (for a small fee) as oversize baggage. I see all kinds of stuff going onto the oversize baggage conveyor, including flat-screen TVs, computers, bicycles, fishing rods, etc. There is some folklore around handling of baggage just as there is around the postal service. Maybe the US and Canadian postal services are just heads above the rest, but I have received guitars shipped damage-free that were shipped USPS and Canada Post across North America in nothing more than a standard hardshell case with two pieces of tape to keep it shut!

While the postal services insure only against loss, you might read horror stories online regarding how UPS and FedEx will deny damage compensation based on the type of packaging used (e.g. item has to be double boxed, etc.). YMMV

Last year I had an amp(Vox Pathfinder 15 R) sent from Toronto to Newfoundland with just its own cardboard box inside a slightly larger cardboard carton with absolutely no ill effects.
