Does the PRRI do anything significantly different and/or "better" than a DRRI? Are there those of you that own both a Deluxe Reverb RI as well as a Princeton RI? I'd like to hear why you decided on both and their strengths and weaknesses.

The PRRI (and the original PR's) employ an altogether different tremolo circuit. That of the DRRI (and most blackface and silverface amps) operates within the preamp to produce the effect. The Princeton's modulates the power amp tubes to alternate the pulses. This system is likewise used on the Vibro Champ and Bronco -- it was the first of three tremolo systems that Leo eventually developed, having first appeared in the tweed Tremolux.

The DRRI is of course more powerful by nearly 45%, which allows sufficient reserve power for additional speakers. And it's a dual channel amp with independent volume and EQ controls for each, which adds to the overall versatility of the package. Likewise, its standard 12-inch driver will deliver audibly better bass response especially when driven hard. OTOH, the PRRI's portability make it the ideal "porch weasel" for grab-and-go situations.
