To get a decent well-rounded sound I had to bring the treble up significantly and cut the mids in half. And guess what happened then? It sounded perfect.

That's why amps have tone controls. :D

I set my BDRI up based on playing my SCN equipped Strat through the clean channel using the neck pickup. All pickups sound great as the bass and treble varies according to pickup selection.

Those settings resulted in too much bass for my humbucker equipped parts guitar, but I found that using the (not so much) drive channel, which cuts the bass slightly, resulted in a perfect sound for that guitar. Plus, the combination of Gain and Master Volume controls allowed me to match the volume of the Strat as played through the non-master volume clean channel.

I'm about to add a third guitar to the mix (I won one of these in an Ibanez contest: http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-GRGA32T in BLACK no less). Should be interesting to hear how it sounds, although I'm already planning on switching out the Ibanez humbuckers for GFS P90s. 8)

Yes having tone controls is one of the reasons I'm really happy with that NOS Blues Jr. I'm also really happy with it because I traded a Michael Kelly mandolin and 200 cash to bring it home from a guitar show. It had the original box and all the paperwork, and sounded great. Much better than 579 sight unseen from Guitar Center or Musicians Friend, then having to put the tubes back in it that were rolling around in the bottom of the box because UPS hates guitarists. And the best part? It's TWEED!!!! All of those black amps start to look pretty boring after a while. I would also like to add a 3rd guitar to the mix, and I've been wanting one with P-90s for a while. I might look and see what Reverend has these days, but I really wish that other company would make a TV yellow double cutaway Junior that didn't come with a ridiculous price tag.

Yep, I think most of us are aware of tone controls. It's just that some work better than others.

Alright, now that you have an entire room full of 60's and 70's era Fenders, you need to get some shag carpet, a blacklight, some posters and banners, maybe one of those pictures made out of thread strung around some tacks, and.....dare I say it?....a disco ball.

Does my matted-and-framed poster of Farrah Fawcett count?
