:D I haven't used reverb in years. I do use just a hint of delay (short return slapback) to add a little of fullness to the sound. Reverb has too long of a decay time and runs things together. Personal taste. Delay, when it's set up right, is not such an obvious effect. Some music requires a little more, but I rarely use more than a hint of slapback. Most of my amps don't have reverb, and the ones that do, I've removed the tanks. I always hated that springy rattle when the amp gets bumped anyway.

I keep my reverb on at between 2.5 and 2.75. Retro is right, on a twin 3 or more is too much unless of course you're doing the beach boys or the ventures, etc. The only song I crank it up on is Walk don't run and Oh how sweet it is.....

If you have a really good amp cabinet with plenty of resonance you would be surprised that you wouldn't miss reverb.

+1

That's why amps with cabinets made of MDF sound like such slugs.

+2 My amps don't have reverb and I don't miss it. When I had my Twin it was around 2 but sometimes the song dictated the reverb.

A solid pine cabinet combo vibrates so much when pushed it has it's own kind of reverb. Although not realy a reverb; but more like wood shaking tubes vibrating and sustain. No need for reverb for me here.

On my BF Twin Reverb (which has the best dang reverb of all my amps), I crank that baby until it's "dripping wet." I love the tone even with Blues. I'll turn down the Vibrato. But, the Reverb is full on.

I don't play professionally. Its just me by myself in a fairly large studio room with cathedral ceiling at home. I turn the reverb up till I just can barely hear it which with my BDRI is at about 3. With my modded Frontman 25R it can be anywhere from 2 to 4.

The results of this poll are beginning to reflect what we hear on popular songs. No surprises so far.

I agree with way-cool jr. here. I think there are many factors involved. Your amp certainly makes a difference. I use a little more with my Blues Jr. and Classic 30 but usually turn it off and use a slight digital delay with my Boogie. 8)

Between 2-3 plus a touch of "slapback" is my preference.

It depends on the amp as they all respond differently,on my Blues Jr. almost on 3 on my Marshall 4210 about 4,on my Vox Pathfinder about 3 1/2 and on my Vox AD120 VTH about 4.

2 ish. i like the air it gives to the tone

on my fender amps it seems stronger so i dial it back, on my peavey xxx, i have it on about 4-5 (spring reverb on the xxx too. maybe cause its not tube driven, i dunno)

i know this is not related, but my next amp is gonna be a tungsten cortez or crema wheat. i love 5E3 - really responsive to your pick

That sounds like a Jim Campilongo quote. :)

I don't know what to say about your upcoming "vacation". We'll be thinking about you. Keep in touch.
