Maybe thru my my computer speakers they might sound similar, but if you were in the same room there is no way the gdec anything sounds in the same league as any of the Fender vitage amps.My GDec sounds like a giant turd ball falling out of the sky when I plug it in,it sounds awful.

I looked into the the g-dec and little line-6 spider when I went lookin.for a small practice amp.
Lots of cute built in effects, but their horrid sound gets on the nerves real fast.

A small VOX or Roland work just fine and sound a lot better..

Really? Well my experience with line6 distortions have been that they're always a bit thin. If you want modulation pods are the best but much else they're not so good for.

I always thought that the vox tonelabs were pretty good on a whole, since it uses a real tube.

I have a Line 6 Spider Jam amp and it's a pretty good practice amp with lot of features. The sound is pretty good, but no where near as good a sound as a tube amp. What I use now is a Line 6 JM4 looper guitar effects pedal which I hook up to either a DRRI or a Twin. The looper has a ton of effects, bass, drums and recording abilities. Musicians Friend has a great price on them now, $301.97, which is much less than I paid for it 6 months ago. It all comes down to how much money you want to spend. Have fun deciding.

The Digitech RP series have an AUX-IN port for MP3 player. Can also be connected to a computer for changing the pre-built sounds with a USB connect. (download the free SW from their site) You can buy them new or used. I picked up a used RP255 for $40. Very versatile.
Works great. Headphone jack too. Plus Stereo outputs for 2 amps.

One option for the home use is seperate components: Guitar, multi effects, looper, and amp. Although more stuff to haul up and down the stairs, you could keep the multi effects and looper under the couch. Also, you could go tweed amp or vintage champ or use what ever amps you desire, and still get all the tone you need.

The benifit: More versatility, you can get it louder, mix and match. And with multi effects and a looper (you create the backing tracks) you can create all day long.

I tried the G-Dec Jr and was not satisfied with the loops and the tone of the amp at any volume over low.

This is what I came up with: I call it the Eco system (going green). Not only is it ECO friendly it's cost effective.
