I'm considering buying a new amp. I play a lot of progressive rock/metal and also play in a punk band.

the two amps I'm considering are the vox ac30vr and the Fender FR100h with Fender FM 412SL Enclosure.

I'm not sure which to buy.

Fender's never really done the Metal or really Punk thing that well, same with the Vox. The Vox is a hybrid too. Kind of meh. Just me , but I'm not really into the whole hybrid thing. There a lot better amps out there for what you do. Most Metal guys I know really prefer Marshall, or Egnater Tourmaster or Armageddon, Bogner etc. Just my opinion. Ya got what ya paid for it.

Try out a Peavey 6505, should be just what you need.

+20x 63supro

There are other amps that do metal and punk or progressive better than Fender and VOX. If you can afford it check out a MESA, they got drive, power and can do effects. Plus, MESA can do decent clean and blues if needed.

mesa is WAY out of his budget.

for £400 (which doesent go far in this little land) Anything tube your going to struggle with.

Funnily enough im selling a marshall JCM2000 TSL 2x12 combo which would be right up your street for £400...

You dont live in, or near manchester do you?

Jump on that Marshall, if you're able to handle the shipping!

Just my 2 cents worth.

The Vox and Fender won't give you the typee of sound you are looking for. I'm inclined to go along with the Peavey 6505 suggestion also a good used Marshall would probably rock your world.
