Lately while practiceing with my band, I have noticed the power light (led?) keeps slowly dying. Going from bright red, and through the duration of the practice to almost nothing at all. I remember I use to see it look like a clipping light, but now it is just doing this.

The sound seems to be unaffected playing at loud volumes.

Any ideas what this could be folks?

Thanks for any and all help.

Hi Earth, That's just a regular # 47 incandesent bulb. I suspect it's getting intermittent contact or the filament is breaking down. I'd get a good quality one from the hardware or auto-parts store. Art

+1

If the amp itself is otherwise unaffected then there's nothing wrong with the 6.3VDC heater tap on the power tranny. Likely as Art mentioned, the bulb is going "tango uniform". I've seen 5-packs of type 47 bulbs on the bay for around ten bucks. The NOS types with the brass base seem to last the longest.

And a lot of other web side possibilities.

To make sure it's the light: unscrew the jewel, turn 1/4 the bulb (it's bayonnettes' one), look at the "spring" filament or use an Ohmmeter to know if the filament is opened.

Thanks guys. I will check in for all of those.

I fear it may be, because about 6 months I had a cab plugged in the extension, not realizing the problem at hand. I had it plugged in for about 5 months.

I am also getting a crackling from my speakers now and then. Should I take it to get serviced?

There is no reason to have crackling. It 's probably a bad connectic. Try to plug and unplug the cabinet jack a couple of time, have a look within the cabinet prehaps there is something touching the speaker ...
At last, If a maintenance is necessary yes , contact a good tech.

Well I read that it is extremely bad to parallel your twin reverb RI without paralleling or doing something with your speakers.

I am currently running with no cab

sorry guys, but I am not too knowledgeable with amps. I'm just trying to learn. I really do appreciate all your help.

Hi Earth, I'm not real clear on your speaker hook-up. Are(were) you running an extension cab along with the internal speakers ? If so, what is the impedance of the ext cab ? Art

I am not using a cab anymore. I use to use a cab with my TR but I realized it was at a wrong impedence to run with the amp.

Probably not much more than stressed out power tubes. What was the extension cab's impedance ? Art

I actually do not know the ohm rate of the cabinet (pretty dumb of me). Its an odd bass cab.I recently changed the bulb and it is still doing the same thing.

Sorry I have not been able to reply much faster friend, I have been extremely busy. Do you have any idea what this could be?
