i guess i am going to put some JJ6V6's and some electro harmonix 12AX7 (3) and 12AT7 (2) one o fthem balanced for the PI - I will post my results when i do....
My Twin i retubed with just all (pre& power amp) Electro-Harmonix & it was an improvement to the GT's that came new when i ordered the amp, except the reverb 12AT7 was a lil on the gainy side, the reverb IF set high would get get a lil fizzy. But I always set it around 2-3 so I did not have an issue. I would also say that the EH made the amp have a lil more gain, but tighter, on the dirty channel. This is my pro-tube Twin~Amp 100W btw.
Is the PI V3?? 12ax7?
On the other hand, on my Champ, when i went from a electro-harmonix 6v6 which came with it to a JJ6v6, the results were awesome! The breakup was less harsh and more warm and just in there if you know what i mean.

So i am kinda back & forth on JJ or EH for the 6v6 pair.

You put your question in the middle of the quote, so it looked like part of the original post. I didn't see it at first, and wondered why you quoted the post.

V5 ist the PI it's a 12AT7, right next to the Powertubes. Mine had GT relabled JJ'S in them (which where rattling), and I like the TUNGSOLs better.... also than the EH's.

I am asking this on this thread also, because I want to find out what the deal with the hiss is:

How loud the hiss on your amps in a real quiet area when no instrument is plugged in and the volume knobs and reverb are completely turned down? Mine is sounding great, but the hiss is really noticable/annoying at home levels. My PRRI in comparance is totally quiet at idle.

Some people also complained about this - and other issues that mine has not - so I want to know if this really is in the design of the amp (like the CVR) or a fault in the unit.

It is not a tube problem. I retubed all slots with low noise and hum tubes (V1 Jan 12Ax7, V2 Tungsol RI V3 TAD 12AT7 balanced V4 EH LPS V5 JAN 12AT7, V6&7: TUNGSOL 6V6) And of course I also rebiased. When I hat the chassis, everything inside looke nice and clean as far as I could tell.

If someone has a real quiet one, I would really appreciate it, if you please let me know!!!!

Thanks!!!!

I know, but this is not what I mean.
The hiss is there regardless of the volume on the channels...even completely turned down.
And no NOS tube fixed that. It only gets a little better when you change the gain of the tubes.
For example if you put a 12AT7 in V4 instead of a 12Ax7 or a 12Au7 in V5 instead of a 12At7...

If I put a Volume Pedal in the FX LOOP, I can turn down the hiss. So I assume the hiss is created before the FX LOOP....

well I just biased my Super-Sonic 22 (stock power tubes- Groove Tubes 6V6 "6's : white")
the amp is only 1 month old - well 2 months from the stamp from the factory
SO, the bias was set to 32mV !
I lowered it to 24mV - sounds good, breaks up a lil different on the clean channel now, i like it.
TP40(D35) was at 32 and TP41(D36) at 31 !
My plate voltage, TP43(D38) was 413 VDC.

thought i would post this as any info. MANY THANKS to everyone in this post!!!!!!
