Hey guys. I'm so torn between these 2 amps. Would love to hear an opinion on each in every genre and ability if thats cool.

Much appreciated!

CC,
I have tried both heads and IMO the Super Sonic just edged out the Marshall. Now, that is for my style of play...if you are going down the road of Izzy....the Marshall wins that one hands down. Hope that this helps.

Depends on the era of Iz though but I know what you mean. The Marshall is defo more suited to my style of play. The price difference is also a big factor boss plus I like the purple of the Marshall too. The clean voices of the Fender SS are pulling me that direction. Don't know what way to go. Pickled. Been savin for ages to replace the DeVille and hate the Vox I've been using in the mean time even though I'm using it with a Little Big Muff and a Marshall Guv'nor.

CC, That's a tough one. I would tend to lean a little more toward the Marshall, but the Fender clean is nice but that Marshall Vintage Modern 100w head is really, really sweet.

I 've had a Marshall JCM800 (combo 50W 4210 if I remember well) for a couple of year in the beginning of '80, my personal feeling is 7ender and Vox (blue speakers) sound airly and sparkly compare to Marshall that was agressive and flat, but really personnal because some prefers Marshall.

I've always played Fenders and love them and the reason I was going for a Supersonic is cos it was closer to a Marshall gain-wise. The Marshall VM however is VERY responsive and both amps have similar controls for the gain channel (Gain 1 and Gain 2 on the SS and Body and Detail on the Marshall VM).

It really is a conundrum.

Played them both A LOT by the way and I'm still perplexed.

Grab life by the dingle-bobs and go for the Marshall-I've never met anyone who regretted buying a Marshall.

FWIW... know someone who has a 2203X reissue head. He recently replaced the worn EL34 with new Genalex Gold Lion KT77 reissues. Adjust to same bias point. All I have to say is wow... these tubes have mucho huevos.

Hi! I can't speak for the vintage Marshall but I had a Marshall TSL100 with 1960A cab for a couple years and just couldn't get the tone I was chasing even with changing tubes and pedals. Then along came my Supersonic 60 watt head and matching 4x12 cab. I couldn't be happier. Unbelievable variety of tones and all I'm using for pedals now is my Carbon Copy Delay and my Buddy Guy Wah. This baby rocks and is way loud too.
