The upgrade in overall sound with just the change of the rectifier tube has got me just plain old giddy right now.

I know tone isn't cheap, but spending those kinda bucks without knowing I'll absolutely love the sound, not gonna do it !!!

But you DO know, cause I told you so :) I've read great reviews about both Celestion Blue and Gold, don't recall reading anything negative about either one, that kinda helped me decide whether to spend the money or not... it is really an amazing speaker IMO! If you were close by you could borrow mine to see if you like it, not using it at the moment.

Hey Cedarblues

My friend if I could be where you are my Jeep's windows wouldn't be frosted and there would not be a huge pile of snow at the end of my driveway !!!!

Oh and a winter storm advisory for our area.

Take a look at a map, see lake Michigan, the very southern point is where i live.

YUKKKKKKK!!!!!!

So hey if you have any good job leads for me, I'll be right over !

Oh and a realestate person who can sell ice to Eskimos (housing market stinks here)

I think the RE Market stinks everywhere these days!

Hey BB, how do you like that '59 Bassman compared to the DRRI?
Been thinkin about a Tweed sometime in the next 12 months...

The bassman is a fantastic amp !
The DRRI is just more usable, Transportable and comes very close to having the same dynamic sound.

4X10 will forever be my favorite speaker configuration.

But some how the single 12" just sings in the DRRI, the sound is everywhere and full as it can be, no other single 12 i have ever played has had that sound with the exception of my Victoria 20112, however the Victoria tweed deluxe clone has nearly zero clean (headroom) and our beloved DRRI is loaded with it.

I just bought a used DRRI in excellent shape with an Eminence speaker from a friend in Nashville. He told me he wasn't sure of the manufacture date of the amp. I read on here that the code on the Quality Assurance sticker revealed the date... I can't read mine. Any help would be appreciated! The only clue I have is the UPS sticker on the box. It says the sticker was made Dec. 7, 1998. My serial no. starts with AC 20xxxx if that's any help. I have googled until my fingers are sore... no wait, that's from playing my Strat through my new Deluxe Reverb!!!

Well, I did as you mentioned and emailed Fender Customer Service. They informed me that my amp was made in November of 1998. The fellow who emailed me was Jeff Krause and he pasted a list of attributes such as output, ohms, speakers, etc. However, it must have been a current list as it listed a 12" Jensen® C-12K, 8 ohm Speaker but mine has a Fender branded Eminence. Is it stock? When did they change over to Jensens?

Thanks for your advise blues bondsman!

Both the DRRI and the TRRI have alternated between the import Jensen 12K5's and the Eminence "special designs" over the years. Both of mine (I own one of each) are '94's and both had OEM Emi's. I suppose FMIC sources the speakers from whichever manufacturer offers the biggest wholesale bulk discount. Frankly, neither speaker is of any use to me.

I'm still loosing sleep over what to do with my DRRI as far as a replacement speaker, This one came with the import Jensen.

I want tight Piano sounding lows even at high volume, no flub !!!!No Farting !!!
I hear the EMI Swamp Thang has that end of the spectrum well covered, how about the other end ???

I want tight without ICE PICK through my brain or I would have gone the Vintage 30 route, my last Super-Sonic was super tight but it would cut your head off with the vintage 30 in it.

I saw a greenback in Johnny Langs DRRI at the latest Crossroads.

O.K. Both of the guys here who I have the most faith in as far as Tube amp advice are saying to go with the Weber.

Its a sign !!!!! LOL !!!

pretty much what I was thinking too, can't seem to get over wanting to try a swamp thang or a red white and blues just to see, however the weber is a no brainer.

Now what color do I want the basket in ??????

Could take another month to decide.
