Arjay, What's the scoop on that neck ? Are they available ? Is that a rose wood or ebony finger board ? Art

I don't think Fuji-Gen is making them right now but you can often find them on the secondary market. I bought that neck from The Stratosphere on Ebay. It's rosewood but I don't think I've ever seen lumber with such a tight grain and uniform color. Here's what one of these '65 re-issues looks like complete......

I added the MOP pickguard (they normally come with 3-ply white) and "under the hood" was completely gutted in favor of DiMarzio Virtual Vintage noiseless pickups and all US-spec pots and wiring. The hardware was likewise replaced with MIA Fender parts. The color is "Old Lake Placid Blue" which is much closer to the original paint chip on the vintage Duco custom color chart of the '60s than the color now used by FMIC.

Does anyone build a DRRI case that will accommodate a 15? I have a standard Deluxe Reverb that I have plugged into a Weber cabinet with a Weber California Ceramic Fifteen in it, and I love the sweeter top end. I'm no wood worker, so I'd like to find a cabinet that would fit the DR head and the 15.

Something like this? :D

Got mine from JD Newell, very happy with it!

Larry Rodgers also makes great cabs.

You will be very happy with this upgrade to your DRRI!

Beautiful! I see one of those in my future.Thank you.

How about bright cap issues ???

Low bias settings from the factory ect......

One of the most popular (with more advanced players) amps out there.

yes I know the blues jr most likely out sells it 10 to 1 but not in the same league for sure !

Hey BB do you have any complaints about the 59 Bassman or is it all good (like I've heard it is). I've never played thru one but would love to try one soon! I just picked up a DRRI last week and have been loving the tones there!

No complaints, but i did some pretty serious swapping to get "THE TONE"

I changed out all of the tubes for various NOS and RI Tung-Sols

I got rid of the Italian jensens and put four great All American webers in

However it sounded Good to start with so those were tweaks in tone.

Excellent build with quality parts, will probably last a lifetime and made in the the USA, wish I could say with all American parts but........

Hello everyone! 1st time post!
I am thoroughly impressed with the collective knowledge, support, and fellowship in this great Fender community! Finally had to sign up and join in.

I bought a new 65 DRRI about 6 months ago, and could not be happier. I also have a '64 Reissue Vibroverb and find that the two really compliment each other very well - The Vibroverb having great sound and more head room; the DRRI having great sound and great growl without smoking your ears. I have 2 Strats - one with Lindy Fralin Blues pickups and ther other with Kinman Blues pickups. Plugged into the DRRI or the Vibroverb, I have found just the tone I am looking for!

The DRRI is a great amp in a small light package. Who could ask for anything more - at a reasonable price. Oh, also, I love those Guitar center 20% off coupons.

Here is one for the "its about time" catagory.

My latest version of the DRRI which I have had for about ??? four months ?
maybe ??? has had the original white label Fender GT Electro-Harmonix power tubes in it, I left them in to see if I could tweak the tone with them still on board.

Answer is no and Heck no ! I put a set of Tung-Sol RI 6v6 GT's last night and the difference is so freak'n amazing and i have yet to check the bias, so we are still at factory settings here all i did was to swap out the tubes and the richness of tone just jumps out of the amp, the bottom tightens up a bit and I now have the tone i remember.

I have 5751's in the first two spots and a Tung-sol RI 12AX7 in v-4 a nos ge 12AT7 in v-3 for the reverb 5 & 6 still have the stock gt's

Good to hear! You're describing my exact reaction when I switched to the Tung-Sols from the GTs...

I've been running some NOS RCAs for a few months now but noticed one of them developed some rattle and possibly became microphonic... I put some Tung-Sols back in, problem solved. I still do like the Tung-Sols but those RCAs were sweeter sounding.

The original gT's were so thin sounding and brittle highs compared to the Tung-Sol RI's

Kinda thought I would reserect this one and see if anyone new has any thoughts to share.

I have a jj 5ar4 on the way to see if It gets rid of the buzz in some of the notes that I am sure is coming from the very poorly built GT 5ar4 that fender puts in these amps.

Still thinking about a weber 12A150 speaker too.

Or if i stay with a ceramic maybe a swamp thang, red White and Blues ect..........

Celestion Gold is also a great speaker in the DRRI, loved the way it sounded in mine!
