I have the new Super Sonic 22 at home for a tryout. There are some major issues though, that I worry about:

- When switching between Vintage and Burn channel, especially from the Burn back to Vintage, there is a quite loud 'pop'. I have tried a couple of Super Sonics and it has been a problem on both.

- It hums enormously. Might be a grounding problem. Might a a tube problem. The amp sounds a bit microfonic when playing certain notes. It jangles. It definitely shouldn't hum this much either.

On the good side:

The sound. The Vintage channel sounds very nice and has a good punchy clean with the fat switch on. It takes my TS9 very well. I would keep the amp just for this sound.

The amp's Burn channel is ok. I still prefer external od/dist but it is definitely usable.

I'm gonna take it back to the store - a new amp shouldn't have these problems this one has. The popping and the humming - not good. Other than that I totally love the amp and its features.

Does anyone experience anything similar?

It should not pop during switching due to the fact that there is mute circuit (Q1 J113), but I'm not shure on 22W.
If you have the schematic let us know.
About hum, when you touch your string, does it stop ?

Microphonics --> Clean up valve sockets, buy a couple of 12AX7 and investigate one by one about microphonics.

I don't have a schematic, unfortunately.

The hum is very loud and does not change when I touch the strings. I does go away however, when I turn on the stand by switch (stand by mode).

The popping is there - and I have seen it described on other forums as well. Some link it to the reverb, but with the reverb turned all the way down, the pop is still there. I might try to unplug to reverb and check it.

I'm gonna return it. Shame, really, because the amp is a sweet package.

If your amp is under warranty, do not hezitate to bring back to the dealer, even the valves are usually 3 months under warranty.
About the pop, I never see the 22W schematic that why I'm not "shure", however for a "7ender amp" it it definitively not normal.

Fender designed amp for harsh condition and heavy use 8)

The built quality seems good enough, but I've tried two Super Sonic 22 amps that does the exact same pop when switching channels.

The other ones I've tried didn't hum this way though, so I think besides the popping there might be a valve problem with this particular unit.
