I'd suspect that the V2 (vibrato channel first stage preamp), V3 (reverb driver), or V4 (reverb recovery) tube is defective. You might also check the cables to the reverb tank and ensure they are properly seated in their jacks -- they're the wires with red and white RCA phono plugs that connect the tank to the bottom of the chassis.

Failing that, I'd take it back to the store and insist that they either repair it or replace with another new amp.

Hey Leo! Willkommen. Does the amp hum with a guitar plugged in or not When you plug the guitar into the CLEAN channel, do you get similar hum?

"CLEAN" channel?

It's a DRRI......the channels are "normal" and "vibrato".

That's an interesting question. I'm curious myself and will take it 1 step further...will removing any tube from a guitar amp cause any damage?
I can't see why it would but it's better to ask the experts here. :?:
Let me be clear..removing a tube with the power off and then turning the amp power back on.

I would advice to put a new one in V1 due to the fact that the bias of V1b is common to V2b. 8) 8) 8)

Correct, sir.

For short periods the V1 might be removed for testing or evaluation purposes but it's not beneficial to the overall health of the amp, long-term.
