I just bought a second Fender Twin (1996) and I want to use it as a slave to my first Master Fender Twin. As a slave, do I need to have the slave amp turned on or does the slave work as a separate speaker cabinet when you plug the master into the Power Amp In of the Slave.

Hi Tomy,

The slave amp would have to be on to get any sound out of it. Using the "Power Amp In" on the slave amp will bypass the preamp on the slave amp, so the volume will be disabled on the slave amp. The volume and tone controls of the master amp will control the volume and tone of the slave amp. You can also run the "Power Amp Out" of the master into the input jack of the slave. That way you still have the volume and tone controls to adjust the sound of the slave. I bet it will sound great, I like using two amps at once. I prefer to use a stereo pedal, or AB switch, so I can adjust the tone of the two amps independently for some cool sounds, but either way is cool. :)

Thanks, I will be trying it today. I like the idea of two independent sounds with an A/B switch and also the stereo out of my pedal... I play Latin Rock (Santana mostly) with a band and I would like to get a good clean sound and also a Santana sound on the other one with the use of pedals. I also like the fact that if anything goes wrong with one amp I have the other one as a backup. I will be testing those options out today.
