OK some more progress today (Saturday - Yeehah!!) all onboard components fitted.

Large Electrolytic Caps were also settled into a small blob of Hotmelt Glue to help stabilise and prevent any effects of vibration from the amp.

Next up will be all the various leads attached to the board.

Why do you put Illinois filter caps ? This is a cheap stuff, Sprague or F & T should be a better choice. Same for uour signal caps, you should go to Mallory orange drop type.

Whith those parts you'll have a "high end" amplifier closer to original Leo 7ender amps.
Now you are closer to Chineese import.

Sorry to say that to you, you have a great project but IMO you have to ear that , you have to learn.

@stratele52,

I understand and appreciate what you are saying, but I'm happy to just build the kit as it is this time around, I really want to see how it turns out the way it is supplied. I do have plans to build another, and maybe next time I will substitute a whole bunch of stuff as you suggested, to see where I can take it.

Even a nice Deluxe Reverb Reissue will come with Illinois filter caps and I don't see that amp as anything like a Chinese import.

Added all the wiring to the board today. Also drilled holes in the chassis to install shock mount grommets for V1 tube socket.

That build is moving along smartly, Snowy.

You'll be ready for the "smoke test" soon.

Nice job!

The build will stall a little now as the working week looms! I had a pretty free run at it all weekend though, so no complaints from me.

Thanks heaps to everyone for the input so far. I'm really enjoying getting the photos of the build up and trying to share the experience.

Great advancement and good stuff using what is in the "kit"; Don't hezitate to refusione solder joints (proprely) on both side to make sure that the "via" are full and not "glued". 8) 8)

Before power ON test, built the 100 watts bulb current limiter. You know ? It protect your amp in case of short.

I'll try to send you a sketch later, many peaople on the forum know this gadget. This gadget limit your current in the amp ; your amp could operate a low current to help to see if nothing wrong inside

I explain; you connect a 100 watts light bulb in SERIE with your 120 volts AC cord.

You build that with a outlet socket and light bulb socket and a 100 watts bulb
