next big question, can you buy it without the speaker ?
I have a few sweet vintage alnico 12's that would just sing in that cab !!!!

The video from the link has me even more interested !

I think even I could do this.

You can buy it without the speaker if you like, give them a call and talk to Brian, the customer service is excellent.

I Decided to deviate from the plan for a just bit and drill/test fit the PCB to the chassis before it gets loaded with components.

Holes marked and ready to drill.

Bolts and standoffs fitted ready to receive the board.

That's a pretty stout looking PCB, Snowy.

Can we see a shot of the reverse side, showing the traces?

It's coming along quite nicely!

Solid eyelets and a first-rate etching job.

Quality through and through!

Thanks, Snowy.

Spent some time mounting all the resistors tonight.
Image

I upgraded the Cathode Resistor from the kit supplied 5 Watt Metal Oxide to an 8 Watt Ohmite "Brown Devil".

Next up, installing the Caps.

I have to agree with Arjay...that PCB looks nice and solid! No flimsy board is that. Nice wide etching too. This thing certainly could take some abuse it looks. Not that you would.

Curious why you changed the wattage of the resistor??? Do you think it was under rated?
How would you rate the other components?

Sorry for all the questions..

Thanks fellas.
@tyronne - I really only upgraded the cathode resister to the 8 Watt wire wound "Brown Devil" because it was apparently the resister of choice for that purpose during the original Tweed era in the late 50,s to mid 60's and is very durable. That being said, kit part would be fine to use.

The component quality of the whole kit is really top-notch, the OT and PT are also both high quality made in US units.

The PCB is really nice solid and I'm enjoying working with it, it's really making the job a pleasure, any necessary repairs or whatever in the future wouldn't be an issue for this board.

It's also made in US. (I'm an Aussie, and we appreciate tough over-spec'd stuff as much as anyone).

Easy to work on - soldering on the back during resistor installation.

That PCB looks like the receiver and countermeasures circuit cards in the AN/TPS-43 tactical radar I used to work on in the service.

I wish all modern amps had PCB's as durable as yours looks.

Very impressive, Snowy!

Indeed.

My DAFSC at retirement was 30392, with 29194XC (combat controller) and 30494 (dirt radio) as secondaries. I always wanted to be a 99125 but alas, it was never in the cards.

Drop me a PM and we can yakk further if you like......
