Last week the strap slipped of my active Jazz Bass and it fell face first onto the carpet. There was no damage to the finish, but the treble knob stopped working. Every time I rotated the knob it make that too-familiar scratching sound like a loose connection. Loud and annoying.

Last night I was playing thru a Rumble 60 and my hand bumped the knob. It stared making that loud sound again. Then the amp made a constant high pitched noise and stopped processing the guitar signal. I turned it off/on and now no sound.

Did I blow my speaker? Amp blown? Any way to diagnose the problem? Thanks.

Sounds like the makings for a pretty solid country tear-jerker.

My bass done cried
My amp done died
I can't play a note to save my soul......

Chances are, something was overloaded during the "episode". And unless you are trained in electronics and familiar with the amp's architecture, let a qualified amp tech set things right.

I'd let Skip Simmons over in Dixon take a look at it.

(have your bass repaired while you're at it)

Thanks a bunch for the info. Turns out my amp is fine. I ran my Tele it thru it and no probs. The problem must be with my bass. Thanks again

Have your bass repaired soon lest any more wonkiness occur.
