I'm in the market for a good recording amp, but don't have a lot to spend and want digital effects on it. I've come down to these 2 amps, and wanted to get some opinions on them, from those who have them or have tested them out. The Vibro Champ is 199.99 and the Mustang I is 99.99. I've played through the Vibro Champ and like it very much, but if the Mustang, which I have not played through yet is similar, it would seem to the better deal to me, even though it is not tube like the Vibro is.

Super Champ is from the Champ family (the first was Champion 800 in 1948 I read somewhere) and has last stage of preamp and power amp equipped with Valves (12ax7 and 6V6GT). The mustang is fully solid state. Both integrates DSP for multi-sound.
It doesn't mean that the valve is better, only your ear and wallet will decide. 8)

The OP's talking the Vibro Champ not the Super Champ. Neither of the VM series XD Champs share their lineage with the vintage Champs. Except for the name. If you're looking at the Mustang, why not look at the GDec series? Personally, I wouldn't with either of them. The DSP effects are really cheesy to my ear. Just me though. YMMV of the two he's looking at I think the Vibro Champ would be the better recording amp. But none og the DSP effects are what I would consider "studio quality" effects. More noisy and cheesy.
