hi there
I'm from Taiwan, and now having a tour in US. I have a frontman 15w,
but now I wanna buy a biger used amp here. I just want to make a decision
between princeton 112plus, princeton65 and princeton chrous, 'coz I found
these three amps with good price.
So the questions are: are there many differences between them? which
one do you guys recommend?

You're touring with a Frontman 15?

no, but I hope I can buy a guitar and amp in US, the secondhand
market here is much much bigger than in TW.

Gotcha. You're definitely right about the market here. Plenty to be had. Good luck!

thank you guys!

I am still searching for good amps with nice price and I just saw a hot rod
deville 212 for $399 and a hot rod delux for $300. I am really attracted by
their good condition and price, so I'm also considering about these two. I
checked some videos on youtube, and I think they are both good, but I
can only buy one.

I want a amp with thick sound, like SRV and John Mayer(I know JM tone
might be difficult without a Tworock...), but that's the direction of the
sound I want. so the hot rod series is good for playing SRV and JM?

smokingblues, if you're touring, I wouldn't get a used Hot Rod Series amp unless you have a backup. They're a real crap shoot in the reliability department. They're net really a great touring amp.

Did SRV play a Hot Rod?

Does JM?

A blackface Fender (or a re-issue of same) does a much more credible job of re-creating those tones IMO.

Actually, I believe in his earlier days Mayer did play an HRD, presumably among other things. I read a post on some board somewhere that detailed JM's settings on his HRD. Of course now he's in the big leagues with the signature Two Rock.

actually, I am now living in my friend's home, and I wanna buy a nice amp
and take it back to Taiwan.
'coz there are too much more choices here than in Taiwan.

and Retroverbial
I guess you're right... but my budget doesn't allow me to buy one that SRV or JM
used to have, so... and I also think if I buy a Hot Rod, I will love it.

I'm going to find that post, and I believe no matter which amp JM play, he will always get his tone.
