EDIT: Also, how difficult is it to turn a 1x10 into a 1x12?

Less "painful" than a root canal.

A couple of hours with a Skilsaw, Makita cordless drill, and a staple gun oughta do it.

Or if you're "handyman-challenged" you can find ready-made 12-inch baffle boards for a PRRI on Ebay. They're not too terribly expensive either.

Probably just another Jensen for right now. I can't afford a Tone Tubby just yet and it doesn't seem that Celestion makes a while lot (or anything) in the 10" variety.

And what does it mean to "phase the speakers correctly?"

EDIT: Just found a Celestion Greenback 10". That will be my first stop.

All electro-magnetic devices (pickups, speakers, the transporter on the Enterprise, etc) are "polarized", relative to the north/south poles of the magnets and the direction the coil is wound.

Look at your speakers and ensure that the "+" terminals are wired together and likewise the "-" terminals for correctly-phased parallel connections.

Ah! Finally! I was right about something.... I imagine if not properly aligned, the speaker won't work?

It will work but with them out of phase, some cancellation of the extreme highs and lows will occur, making for a somewhat "honky" unpleasant tone.
