Did they force you at gunpoint to buy their product?

Don't be an asshat.

Maybe it's called "Capitolism", just a guess. IMHO We can only persevere in the fields that our skills and resouces are best suited for. The global economy has been functioning for thousands of years. Art

My Stanley tools are made in USA.
Old Stanley hardware was made in USA.
Not quite so anymore.

So... yes, when I must purchase a product that is
not made here, I am forced at gunpoint to purchase
a foreign product.

Who's holding the gun?
The government!

Now, to clarify what you are apparently unwilling to admit is that
such a system of government in which governmental affairs, including
national legislation which are dictated, if not authored by the corporate world, is called "Fascism".

oh and.....
Better an asshat than the dunce wearing me.

Your sophistry carries no water and you have no case unless you can prove actual coerision beyond a reasonable doubt.

You can't and you won't.

Enjoy your world.

My world, nothin'!
Been there, done that!
Ever heard of Eminent Domain?
Stand opposed or stand down?
What's it gonna be, Col. Jessup?

Can't argue about the abuse of the Eminent Domain power. But when the citizens with suffrage, choose to not get involved, they are giving up a "consent of the governed." And by voting for or against, win or lose, a citizen is invested as part of the whole that has given their"consent of the governed." IMHO Our government is reactionary. And the citizens have more power than we choose to exercise. Art

Your right

Here is a prime example of what happens to people who didn't want to be governed.

Not sure how this extreme example is to be taken. I have a problem relating with this occurrence. Art

That is because there is a pattern of events and occurances that you are used to.
Naturally, when we are used to something as being standard operating procedure, we don't think anything of it. Let alone, connect the dots.

Money talks, BS walks.

You see, when a factory moves off shore, only to continue selling it's merchandise from that foreign country, with the blessing of the US government, then you have an example of a coerced and controlled economy. And you need a military to back up your will.
the lowly pean people are not able to stop the departure of their factory when they have no means to oppose the militarized government that would back the Corporate will of that factory. Only thing an angry mob would get is forced apprehension. IF, that mob were armed, they could be tried for conspiring to wage war against the united states. There is law that is on the books that forbid the very things the founding fathers did when they conspired to wage what we know as the Revolutionary War against England. Essentially the founders were outlaws if you asked the constitution.

It's tragically hilarious hypocrisy. That is until you discover what the left hand has been doing all these years.

If they want your house, there is nothing you can do to stop it.
I have to laugh at the gun right advocates.
Pardon me but can you purchase war material or has that been sold to foreigners and you are not allow to own such weapons.
Why? Because you are already under someone else's control.

Remember that bit about global competition being touted over and over in the '90s? I remember thinking how does a nation expect to compete globally by shooting itself in the foot and cutting the body in half and give the arms to it's competitors?
It was the most idiotic thing I thought I had ever heard when they talked competition and promised to slice and dice what was left of the industrial infrastructure.

So.....
I want my stanley door hinge to be made in USA.
"Sorry, not happening", says the sales rep, "What are you going to do about it?"
That's where the consumer is forced to purchase foreign products
at gun point. Remember those workers who watched their factory go bye bye? They had to decide whether it was worth the risk of getting their heads blown off or just move on and cope as best they can.

Kinda interesting that the minimum wage in the US is so much higher than in China. Let alone EPA regulations, OSHA, and the rest of the alphabet soup departments and agencies and collossal laws on the books, it can discourage new entrepreneurism, let alone an emerging compettitor.

Ah hah! How convenient. When you can control the politicians in government you can monopolize your niche market through the back door
through laws that make it impossible for newcomers to cut into your profits.

Now wonder why they call you greedy smart and shrewed.

You learn something new every day.

Wow!

Do you also spend thousands of sleepless nights awake and worrying about an asteroid hitting the planet?

Buy yourself some mild steel plate and make the goddamm hinges yourself!

Stop sniveling about the things you cannot change and instead learn to roll with the punches and enjoy life!

ROFLOL!!!!!!
I don't need hinges!
I don't want hinges!
It's not about hinges!
My comments regarding hinges was just drawing an illustration of
the situation as I have observed them.

Roll with the punches?
I'm not the one attacking someone else because I disagree
with them.
Your three sentences, quoted above, are just that: the product of someone who simply cannot engage in a discussion without resorting to pointless misguided and misdirected confrontation.

You've been attacking me for some time and your prattlings directed towards me are non-productive to discussions.
Whatever your beef with me is, build a bridge and get over it!

You missed the symbolism, Hoss.

The "hinges" are a representative allegory for all that you rail against.

The point is, I could build that bridge. I wouldn't sit at river's edge pissing and moaning because the lumber is imported from Canada, the steel from Korea, the hardware from El Salvador, etc etc.

One way or another, I would get across that river.
