Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum and sound tweaks in general so go easy on me. I was wondering if I'd be able to use a Vox AC4TVH 4W Tube Guitar Amp Head with my HRDeville as a cab. If so, how would I go about doing this? My HRD is far too loud to play at home. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

beermanstad

Easy. Just take the 1/4 in. speaker cable that is plugged into the back of the HRDX and plug it into the back of your VOX. This will let you run the VOX through the HRDX speaker

Is there anything else I should worry about or are these two pieces okay to use together?

According to the Vox website, the AC4TVH wants to see a 16-ohm speaker load. The 4-ohm load presented by your HRDvl cabinet is a 200% mismatch that I personally would not be comfortable with.

Okay, obviously my knowledge of OHMS is not great, but from a bit of googling, here's my understanding...

Higher amp ohms to lower speaker ohms is NOT GOOD
Perfect match is PERFECT
Lower amp ohms to higher speaker ohms is OKAY

is that roughly correct?

The HRDvl 2x12 is 4-ohm, the 4x10 is 8-ohm, which do you have?

You got it! But, like Retroverbial said, keep the mismatch close. 16-ohm amp with an 8-ohm speaker(s) is OK. 16-ohm amp with 4-ohm speaker, not really recommended.
