I'm very interested in hearing that audio sample, as I've had my BDRI for about 4 months now. I've been debating on which speaker to choose. If only more people, including myself, could post audio samples. Sure would help others out in finding the best tone for their tastes. I personally don't have a quality way to record myself.

Thanks for bumping this thread. I don't remember seeing this thread when I did a search.

Fellas,
The Gold and BDRI STILL sounds excellent.

The sweet thing about the BDRI is that you can plug just about any 8ohm speaker into it and change out the tone. Imagine a 4x10 cab or 2x12 cab
with whatever speaker suits your tastes.
An extremely versatile amplifier!!

You may have heard of audiophile sound systems.
IMHO, you could plug a stereo up to the power amp in jack and you could realize tube Stereo. (If you have to BDRI's, of course)

The Gold is based on the Blue and should be very similar in tone -
The Blue is famously used in the Vox AC30s which uses a different
circuit design and tube compliment, if I am not mistaken.
I cannot emphasis how much I love my BDRI.

Plug these heads into the speaker for differrent tones:

Mesa Transatlantic 15
http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/ ... TA-15.html

VOX Night Train NT50H - http://www.voxamps.com/nighttrain/nighttrain50/
Vox AC30H (would have to find used)

Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister series heads (36 model) - http://www.hughes-and-kettner.com/produ ... ubeMeister 36 Head
or
Hughes & Kettner Tubeman - http://www.hughes-and-kettner.com/produ ... od=Tubeman MKII

Maybe even a Tube Bass Pre-amp such as an Ampeg SVT4 plugged into the
BDRI Power Amp in jack and out to a bass speaker.
There are tons of things that can be done with the BDRI

I play the following electric instruments:
'10 Fender Stratocaster (SSS) (Stock form)
'06 Gibson '56 Les Paul Goldtop w/P-90s
'00 Esteve Classical Guitar via special saddle pickup

Oh and as for the recording - it's buried in my very messy hard drive.
If I find it, I'll try to post it.

As for posting audio samples, I am a firm believer in accuracy and equality.
There should be standards for how a recording is presented because there are so many variables that can tweak the sound's characteristics that by the time you hear it on your end, it can be very different.

Industry Standard Mic: Shure SM57
(Get some oddball mic that has an unfamiliar color to it and the sound changes)

American Standard Strat
American Standard Tele
Gibson Les Paul w/P90s
Gibson Les Paul w/PAFs
Semi-hollow body
Archtop
These are your basic standard guitars that are world renown.
IF I had the cash and time, I would test out each type to provide
the listener with sound samples - playing identical rhythm & lead solo riffs - that's the only way any one component can be fairly scrutinized
I hear people do these speaker shootouts and they are playing different riffs all over the place on each speaker.

Another point is that it has to be understood that what a sounds like in person is far different than what it sounds like via computer speakers or whatever you use. A pity the guitar shops don't have a vast collection of speakers to help you evaluate in person for yourself. A costly endeavor, no doubt.
You can still evaluate online, though.
The only way that I can suggest that may be of help is to get to know the puter speakers you listen through and and gage the difference in the prospective speaker's sound. Be sure that your puter EQ is flat Treble Mid Bass are neutral or even with each other -
hope that helps.

Again, the Gold sounds real good in the BDRI.
I guess you can always send it back if you are very careful during install.
