Anyone know anything about 6P3S tubes. From the ad:
"6P3S is an extra durable output beam tetrode tube used in low frequency amplifiers. This tube is very popular in HiFi guitar amps. It is equivalent to 6L6GT/6L6/6L6GC/5881."

I can get a fairly decent deal on them, I was think of trying them in my BDRI.
Thank You :?

Claims of equivalence are only as convincing as the seller's credibility IMO.

Hey Arjay,

I found this at Dr.Tube:
"6P3S (6П3С) Beam Power Tetrode

The NOS Reflector 6P3S (6П3С) is a generic Russian tube. This tube has often been relabeled as a 6L6GC by some not so reputable relabelers and tube dealers. This tube, however, is comparable to a 6L6GB and it is in fact the predecessor of the Sovtek 5881. This tube functions fine in small 2x 6L6 amps (20W-30W) though."

Seems like a BDRI might be a bit much for it.

I'd agree. Something's been shortchanged there.

Tubes are like tires......don't scrimp on them and they'll never let you down.

JJ 6L6GCs are a perfect match for a BDRI. I bought mine at

Been using 1980's vintage 6P3S-E tubes for some time in Fenders. Bias them like 6L6GC, to tone. Very reliable. Get them from someone that tests them, not only for matching---but noise. Get the 6PS3-E type. These are true mil spec tubes. Very rugged. Here's where I get them (check about 1/4 down the page):

$54.50 per matched quad is very reasonable.

Yep Beemer has it right, from what I've found. The 6P3S is akin to a 6L6, whereas the 6P3S-E would correspond with a 6L6GC. Apparently, the E suffix stands for extended-life. You might try this site:http://www.rutubes.com/index.php?productID=176
