So i just barely got a hot rod deluxe but im having some problems. They guy i got it from said it was about 6 years old. It is just not taking my MXR Fullbore Metal pedal at all. This pedal is exttreamly high gain and i love it but it doesnt seem to work with the fender. It washes out if i put to much bass through it. I really dont understand this. Is it the tube or the speaker? Also what would happen if i put in all mesa tubes?

Are you connecting this device via the pre/power amp jacks?

Mesa valves are sorting valves, good quality I've a couple of in stock.
But if you feel that your pedal has too high gain, use the -6dB input (low) or try a valve with lower gain such as ECC81 or ECC82 at V1 position. 8)
The test is if you use input (not valid for the serial effect loop as Retro asked, in that case it's another story prehaps linked to impedances, very accurate remark Retro)

+1 Any distortion pedal will sound like arse in the effects loop. And yes, the stock tubes and speaker pretty much suck if they're still in there. YMMV

If you want Metal tones why didn't you go with Marshall, Egnater, Mesa, Bogner etc. Fender amps never did do Metal very well anyway.
