ok, I took out V2 and plugged guitar in. As you said, channel 1 (no gain) was clean. Channel 2 (gain) had no sound but also no hiss.

Then the "hiss" is located in second channel. I'm not at home this WE, and no acces to my schematics lib, I will give you next step tomorrow.

Exchange V2 with V1, and let me know if the hiss is still present on gain channel. Then replace V1 in V1 and exchange V2 to V3, let me know.

Also clean up your valve sockets, and Stratele52 has got experiences on this amp; May be there is bad wiring; If it is the case, you have to find a good tech to find which wires or components are the hiss root cause and find a fix.

been sick this week with some kind of crud....
