sadly, i did not try the frogs or snails. One of my sons had frog and enjoyed it. I spent a day in Brussels on a great beer tour!

today, i'll try the pre-amp connection. I'll see about taking a picture for stratele52, but not sure i'll be doing that right.... But if you'll look in this thread, Tissan attached the schematic for the Twin.

thx,
jeff

I got this schematic in my file. But in my opinion, you have to look the lead dress ( that the right word) and a picture will help me.

You're welcome Jeff.
By the way, I had been living in Brussels for 4 years, it's a great city, I've got a lot of good "souvenirs", not only beer.

In Brussels, we met Lonely Planet travel writer Marc Elliott while sitting at the Moeder Lambic. He gave us a whirlwind tour of his favorite pubs, including 2 tiny pubs in operation since the 1300s. We then stopped and drank our beers at La Mort Subite, which was a beautiful place--had rochefort 10, chimay, etc.

Tissan: I'm sitting in front of the 2 amps. I have a cable connected to my Twin's Pre Amp Out, but the twin reverb doesnt have a Power Amp In. So i dont think i can plug into it anywhere....

just tried it. There's fairly loud background noisewith no volume on. when i start increasing volume on the channel with no gain, there was no additional hum, and the guitar sounded ok. When i turned on the gain channel, however, the familiar hiss/hum returned--as i increased gain or treble, bass, or middle, that hum/hiss got very loud. so, guess that means the problem is in my pre-amp?
Jeff
PS I have to leave the practice place now, but plan to return again tomorrow, maybe around 2 or 3pm CST.(friday)

I summerize:
1. Test amp using Power In --> OK
2. Test preamp on another amp --> NOK (the other amp is OK)

Then you have an issue that is located in the preamp.

--> Action plan
a) Take pictures as Stratele52 required
b) Remove V7 --> Reverb valve --> proceed with a guitar test and let me know

Note that don't forget to put a mark on the valve as 7 for valve 7 in order to not make a mess.
2nd note: as such amp as high voltages (up to 450VDC) you have to be prudent, don't put your fingers, alway unpluged the amp has to be for maintenance actions. Except for valve changing, it will be better to contact a good tech if you have not enough skills. However, the analyse is very important to help him to located the issue.

Good plan, Tissan.

I concur.

OK, i found and removed V7 and plugged the guitsr in. On gain, it still has a very loud hum/hiss. Does that mean we've rules out the reverb as the problem?
Thx,
Jeff

OK the reverb stage seems not the root cause.

Put back V7 and try using only channel 1 (clean); Normally it should be OK.

Retry Channel 2 (gain&volume), it should hiss;

Remove V2 (put a mark) and try --> channel 1 OK and channel 2 not working but no noise. Let me know.
