Board is done!

I'm stuck with the 4 diode bridge rectifier because the BD power transformer does not have a center tap.

Good job, Rjake ! Those components should make for a quiet amp. So the rectifier is still an open issue, right ? The Weber copper cap or the module doesn't require a center tap. Will you use a variac or current limiter for the initial power-up test ? That board looks great ! Art

Update! Real close to firing this dude up! I made a bridge rectifier to power it. I couldn't find a lag resistor that suited me. I"m still looking for the right size of the chassis mount aluminum type. I'll snip the power wire and throw it in when I find one.

RAWK ON!

The amp passed the no tube fire up! 460 vdc out of the rc filter circuit. But, when I went to plug in all the tubes, V2 wouldn't go in. I know, I know.... Tell me it isn't so rjake, you made a rookie mistake on the cathode follower pin 7 grid and held the soldering iron on too long on the 100k resistor and soldered the pin together?!?! Yes, I did. I tried assorted solder solder suckers and other means to fix it, but alas, none worked and I have no spare. So, I'm waiting on a replacement. Here is the amp waiting for the replacement socket.

"Baliff......WHACK HIS PEE-PEE!"

No sweat, rjake -- you'll have the chassis finished by this time next week.

Which'll give you time in the interim to lacquer the tweed on the cab, select and install a speaker, etc.

It's gonna be fine, trust me.

I've done that a time or two, Rjake. If you want, you can put a desolder wick up inside the pin receptacle, and carefully heat it from the top of the socket. Guess you know the trick now, of putting a burn't tube in the socket before soldering. But I bet you've learned alot of tricks while building this project. Keep your iron hot ! Art

Good info Art. I ordered 2 sockets just in case I screw it up again. Arjay, that lacquer idea might just happen.

Sounds super, rjake......it'll look as vintage as it sounds.

And that's a good thing in my book.

BTW, what speaker do you have planned?

I work in Kokomo about once or twice a month. I may just stop in at Weber and place an order for a 12A150. I am curious to hear the original Eminence through some good circuitry though.

There's nothing "wrong" with the OEM Emi -- neither is it by any stretch remarkable. But the amp should really shine with an alnico Weber. Good choice!

Indeed!

I love watching a true craftsman at work. And rjake has that rare gift to be able to transform a concept into reality.
