The very one.

The discussion centered around the federal government's pie-in-the-sky plan to hand out free internet access to everyone by encoding the web onto a modulated low-frequency sub-carrier and having all of the electric power companies multiplex that signal onto their transmission lines nation-wide (as if our aging and increasingly creaky power grid doesn't need more fundamental upgrades!). Such a plan, while viable, would create serious terrestrial RF interference in the HF spectrum, rendering some shortwave bands (2 meter to 6 meter IIRC) to be unusable. Both Art and Joe are long-time ham radio buffs, hence their personal interest in the issue.

The government wanted to take some long held RF real estate from the HAM operators thus "fencing them in" as it were?? If so...............
Sounds to me like another governmental dash for the cash and the stash.
Am I getting that right?

Well somewhere I'm sure that cash was one motivation but I just couldn't for the life of me see the angle. But perhaps just as significantly, it would've blocked those "hamsters" who use those frequencies from enjoying their hobby. And during times of crises -- both natural and man-made -- those radio frequencies are often the only method for the citizenry at large to communicate. Thus, it might more properly be regarded as an issue of "behavior control". I'm not certain what ultimately became of the proposal -- the radio show I mentioned aired over two years ago.

"Uh, yeah......sure you are."

No kiddin'.
That's something I've noticed now and then. A topic such as this gets talked about then disappears again. Life marches on.
Where you heard this, was it on standard (Coast to Coast) broadcast or shortwave?

The regular show over the conventional AM airwaves.

Our local affiliate offers free tin-foil hats autographed by Art Bell himself to all listeners.

Hey sorry guys but can we please get back to the topic of this thread?

I'm interested in the cannabis rex, and wondering if anyone has had experience with this. Or any other imminence speaker that they liked in a BDRI. They're definitely more in my price range.

Thanks

Sorry dg, didn't mean to hijack your thread but it's the first time I've ever seen a thread go tin foiled.
You can have your thread back, now.
Sorry don't know about the cannabis rex or any other speaker in the BDRI.

Ok so I was in a amp store, and the guy sells speakers too. I asked him what I should put in my BDRI and he said that he puts Emminence Wizards in all of his Fender amps. I looked it up and it sounds pretty good. Any opinions on how these sound in a BDRI? Any opinion on how they compare to a V30?

Thanks

dg, I think you might ask that guy if you can sample his amps with those speakers so you can hear it for yourself.

I have a Hot Rod Dlx - it's the Lmtd Edition Tweed. It came stock with a Jensen P12N - well, I love to tinker, so I pulled it and tried an Eminence Red, White & Blues. That speaker was too bright, just too much of everything. Next I went to a Vintage 30 - loved that, great overdrive tones (from pedals) and the cleans were warm, defined mids with a nice "sheen" on the mids. I'm now using a Warehouse Guitar Speaker's ET-65 (there take on the Celestion 12-65 speaker that Mayer uses).

I really like celestion based speakers in the hot rod/Blues Dlx amps - help control the bass boom and adds more definition to notes.

Check them out...made in the US and very reasonable in price
