Having had both they are totally different animals.6v6s vs 6l6s ,solid state rectifier vs tube rectifier, etc.I actually was able to coax some decent tones out of my Blues deluxe, but decided the drri was the superior amp and didnt really need 40 watts or the aggravation of fighting with the volume knob.

Nice to hear but I see some issues :)

I see no proper amp mic'ing being done, which means most likely the sound is being picked up at a distance by whatever camera is being used to make the web video.
Not a good way to record audio, and the in-camera mic is doing a diservice to both amps.

Then the playback, it is completely colored by however you are listening to it.
On my laptops built in speakers it sounded thin but ok, patched into my mixer and put through the studio monitors it has a strange mid and hi frequency clip/buzz the sound gets real annoying after a few seconds on all 4 vids

Trying to use web videos to compare amps (or any other audio equipment) is not such a good way to do it.
To prevent disapointment best head off to a music shop and compare them in person.

That is some excellent work, Twinhit. These comparos are some of the best I've seen on youtube. You played a variety of styles to challenge the amps (and quite well, I might add); and it was very easy to see strengths and weaknesses. I know recording with a video camera is not like being there, but in science, if you hold everything else equal, a judgement can be made in the comparison. And you did just that. Great Job! I was actually quite impressed with the Blues Deluxe, being a DRRI guy myself. I think it generally held it's own, sometimes even excelled.

I have 3 requests:

1) Redo the exact videos and substitute a Strat for the SG (to see if the guit makes a big difference).

2) Turn up the DRRI a little, or turn down the BD a little to balance for the loudness gradient.

3) Please post the Tab for that ABB tune. I loved it, and have wanted to learn it just like you played! Is it on a Web Site? Does it play well acoustic too?

Thanks again.

Bob

Oops, no... that's not me. Sorry.

I would love to see a side by side compare like this sharing your same requests though. (With disclaimer that the amps may not sound the same in person but against each other in the same video like this gives a far better impression of what than no demo at all)
I think it would be great to have the hallmark amps, guitars and speakers
used in comparison videos. Chords and tabs that cover the entire scale range.
Control settings Neck Mid Bridge combo or Treb Mid Rhythm setting and tone settings. etc

Fender
American Standard Strat
Ash & Alder Bodies,
Maple and Rosewood necks
SSS
HSS
HSH

Telecaster
Ash & Alder Bodies,
Maple and Rosewood necks

Gibson
Les Paul Standard
P90s
PAF

Les Paul Custom
P90s
PAF

ES335 or similar
P90s
PAF

Speakers
Celestion
Eminence
Jensen
JBL
Weber

You get the idea - the demonstrator would play the same set of simple and complex chord/tab riffs for each guitar/amp combo.
For two amps, there might be 50-100+ video clips.
I know that's a lot but an independant demo video database like that would sure be informative and commercially unbiased.

Personally, I believe to some degree, that the style of music, playing style, will dictate the guitar you play which will dictate the choice of amp, which gets fine tuned via tubes and speakers and other mods if necessary. Pedals can factor in as well.
