so i get a little lucky. stage 100 for sale-125 with footswitch. find out reverb doesn't work- get it for 75 bucks. loud great sounding amp.

i looked in the back by the reverb tank, and all connections look good. is there anything i should look for? i am not an amp tech, so i hesitate to start playing with things.

any advice?

Check the continuity of the reverb in/out cables and the tank itself. Beyond that and it will probably require the services of a qualified amp tech. But be advised, many specific parts for the "Dyna-Touch" Stage series of amps are no longer available.

Best of luck, HTH

to check the continuity, do i need to take the amp part out, and check with my meter? i have done this type of test on other cables, so i am assuming that i need to hold one of the probes to one of the ends of the cable, and the other tip to the other end of the cable. let me know if i am correct on this please.

the tank number is 8eb2c1b. i have found them on e-bay in the 25-30 range. if the cable tests ok, should i assume it is the tank and just replace it? maybe there is a way to test the tank that i don't know

i have a multi-effects unit that has reverb, so it's not a major issue to me, so if it won't be any easy or relatively inexpensive repair, ill not worry too much about it. sometimes my obsessive/compusive side comes out, and makes me not rest until it is done oh well....

thanks for readind, and all the advice :D

Clean the 2 rca jack , reverb in and out, at the back of the amp. If those sockets are dirty or rusty , reverb won't work or won't work well. The inside contact of these jackare very important and rust easely

problem solved. took out the reverb tank. took a look inside, and found a loose wire. hooked back up-problem solved :D

the footswitch was a bit messed up too- worked intermittently. the jack was also pushed in. took apart- put a washer on to strengthen the jack. and straightened everything up. now works like a champ :D

so now i have a great amp that functions properly. and the best part is that there was no cost to fix it up

phreddybee, how do you think this amp sounds? I can buy one from a friend for about $100. I haven't heard it yet. I have a DRRI, so I've been reluctant to buy it because I really don't need it. If it sounds really good though, it might be worth it to go ahead and get it. I know it won't sound nearly as good clean as my DRRI, but how about the overdrive? Can you get alot of gain out of it?

i bought this amp because i was looking for a deal on a loud solid state amp- and loud it is! and to think- if i add an extension speaker, it puts out 160 watts- yowza :D

as far as sound- i love the old sparkly clean fender sound- no dsp, no amp modeling, and i get it with this amp. it's no tube amp, but for what i paid, it does what i want.

as far as overdrive- i don't play metal, so i can't speak for that. but i do like the distortion for what i use it for. having the more overdrive button is nice. when i need a liitle extra kick, i use it, and it works for me.

so far, i'm happy with the purchase.....

Offhand, for 75$ I'd say you got your moneys' worth PB!

The Stage 100's are plenty loud. And adding an 8Ω cab gives you another 60 watts to make the point. Just be sure your extension speaker is adequate for the task. Fender's matching DT-112 cab (if you can find one) has a Celestion G12T-100 as OEM......plenty beefy for the job.
