Hey, I'm wondering what the difference is sound wise. Does the blues deville have more headroom? What do the 410s do for the sound? Does it have to be a lot louder than the 40 watt deluxe to have good distortion?

thanks

20W is the difference.

well I know there's 20 watts difference. I guess my real question is, what is the difference in the way the 410 speakers sound compared to the 112. And also, if this 20 watt difference makes a noticeable difference in volume and headroom.

thanks

Deluxe Reverb :D

I also HAD a DeVille 410, very loud amp! The 4 10s sounded warmer IMO than the BD. It is one big and heavy amp! If that's what you're looking for I'd look at a used Twin Reverb instead... I got one of the nicest Fender clean tone from a 65 Twin Custom with a 15 in there, used go for $700, plenty of amp, plenty of clean headroom!

The Blues Deluxe (I have one with the matching ext. cab.) has to be too loud to get significant distortion, so I expect the Deville would be more so. Just a bluesey mild OD at volumes that won't make your ears bleed. It is a loud amp.

The absolute best "modern" 4 x 10 blues amp I have ever heard was a DRRI converted to piggyback configuration, with a quartet of 10A125 Webers in an open-back speaker enclosure. Dimed, it sounded like frying bacon smells -- heavenly.

I should probably build one myself......
